2. Introduction
 Focusing on venture capitalists and angel investors, Scott Perlov is a
member of the law firm of Bryan Cave in Boulder, Colorado. Before he
attended law school, Scott Perlov studied classical piano at the Aspen
Music Festival and School.
Spreading across 38 acres just outside Aspen, the festival has advanced
the careers of young musicians for 71 years. Over an eight-week period,
five student orchestras (accompanied by established musicians) present
master performances each year. Additionally, students will join two
opera productions for the 2019 event - Stephen Sondheim’s A Little
Night Music and Misty Mazzoli’s Proving Up.
The festival will draw on the talents of some 650 young persons, with an
average age of 22, who have hailed from 40 nations. Teaching them is a
faculty of 150 from prestigious institutions around the world.
Some 400 events are on the schedule, centering on the theme of Being
American. The program will feature works by giants in the field such as
Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. Also represented are George
Gershwin, Philip Glass, Samuel Barber, and Andre Previn.
