Making Something Invisible Visible
Group Members: Georgia, Stephanie, Kallie
The nature of contemporary
            visualisation

 The process of making something invisible visible

 The production of data-based images and data
  graphics

 They reveal patterns and clusters

 Visualisations give a persuasive approach to the
  data
In which publics do visualisations
            intervene?

 Climate science, politics, psychology, economics,
  education, and the government

 Visualisations are a form of control

 “If I can see it, I can control it”

 Can also be used to negative effect

 Important to consider the ethical boundaries that
  protect individual privacy
What are we making visible?

 Information Graphic: Moods in relation to time.

 We asked ten people in the Eastern Suburbs from
Monday to Friday at both 10am-3pm their mood.

 Based on a scale 10- Ecstatic

                      1- Very low
Creating it or making it
             visible?

 Moods will always pre-exist

 They are both deeply private and subjective

 Creating a tangible recollection of how moods are
impacted by external factors such as time.
