THE STATE OF MUGGING THAT IS HUGGING MORE IN THEIR DEATH BEDS IN THE
BELOVED CAPITAL CITY .
The spiking rate of unemployment and high cost of living coupled with glorified valueless
system has been crowned the new normal since covid 19 period but worse is the rise of crime in
the city that has reduced a once beloved city into a crime scene where residents suffocate in all
efforts of seeking a living that's they are struggling to secure a shilling which is hardly there
and now treated into another task of protecting the very shilling worse case scenario being
blatant denial of protection from those entitled by tax to protect and preserve their hard
earned proceeds. The capital city is not any habitable and government is waging a passive war
that only entertains and motivates the perpetrators of heinous act. In less than a week a few
young knowledge seekers from the great university of Nairobi have kissed the wrath of death
having had their worst day with the heartless muggers in the city thus severing cuts and
wounds on their body which already suffers hunger and devastation due to tough living
conditions in campus not to forget the property loss and mental health impact of the same.
Many cases of item loss, robbery on broad daylight and attempted murders are rampant with
only a few hitting the mainstream or Social media and this leaves the innocent Kenyan with
gnawing fear of existence for you don’t know if you are the next in the escapade and thus begs
the question on whose mercy are we?
The heartless, mannerless, opportunistic, morally decadent muggers are probably jobless
Kenyans who are taking advantage of the economic depression to scavenge on their fellow
citizens to survive but would that man eat man society be a formidable legacy?; guess no ,its
high time government think of a more harmonized approach to the issue and that includes
involving the masses( community),security agencies and media on an urgent solution sooner
before its all lost .dignity to life is well enshrined in the constitution and as such every Kenyan
has a right to protection from harm and leading a dignified life but on whose hands are we
safe?, or better still on whose punishment are we? Is it a crime to be a resident of Nairobi? Do
we really have a bill of rights?, do we have law enforcement agency? Do we have a
government that mean well to its people?. Does the government know all activities thrive on
safety and Nairobi contributes massively to its gross domestic product?, If the city is a glaring
hell and it's the epicenter of the nation then how can citizens trust the newly elected
government to serve them? We Nairobians trusted you with our vote please do us justice by
assuring us our safety not ditching us in a den of hopelessness where every man for himself
and God for us all.
In a nutshell the need to protect and preserve the sacrosanct entity of life is more urgent than
we ever thought and Nairobi is in intensive care unit so please the government decide to save
us or pull off oxygen from us. It will take a collective approach to find a lasting solution for I
believe united we stand and divider we fall but to stand we must decide to dare the terrain to
pave way for what befits the best interest of our people at whichever cost for that’s what
democracy dictates and justice delayed is justice denied. I finish with an heartfelt pledge to all
Kenyans “Nairobi we love you our capital city let’s do all to revive your glory”.
