The Royal Observatory Greenwich is preparing to unveil the winning images from its Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2016 competition, which received a record number of over 4,500 entries from amateur and professional photographers from over 80 countries. The competition highlights outstanding photos such as Venus and the Moon overlooking the International Space Station over France, new stars being born in the Lagoon Nebula, and a Royal Spoonbill basking in the glow of the almost Full Moon. Visitors can view the winning images starting September 17 at the Royal Observatory Greenwich website.
