This document summarizes a study on how new information technologies contribute to effective communication in crisis situations for small and medium-sized companies. The study included a literature review and empirical research surveying 173 companies. Results showed that companies were satisfied with internal communication and felt new technologies helped communication during crises. Statistical analysis validated the hypotheses that new technologies improve crisis communication and collaborative communication effectiveness. The conclusions were that new technologies do help crisis communication and collaborative communication among companies.
