Antonio Puerta was a Spanish footballer who played as a left midfielder for Sevilla. He joined Sevilla's youth academy as a boy and made his professional debut in 2004. During a La Liga match in 2007, Puerta collapsed on the field due to cardiac arrest and lost consciousness. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, Puerta died in the hospital three days later at the age of 28. Prior to his death, Puerta helped Sevilla win several trophies including two UEFA Cups.
