ANT Case Study

Introduction
As far as I know, my Accelerated NonStop Traffic (ANT) strategies are new and have NOT
been revealed by anybody else, as far as I know. In fact, one person told me that these
strategies are cutting edge bleeding edge – and that happens to be exactly the same phrase
I use to describe ANT, myself.

Not only is ANT bleeding edge – it is very effective as well.

ANT is NOT idle theory - because I have used ANT strategies to infiltrate and dominate a
one-word trillion dollar niche within three weeks. That niche is the car/cars niche.

This niche has over 4.5 million Exact Match Global searches a day, and advertisers are
paying a lot of money to Google for clicks. Here is a screenshot of the Keyword Tool, using
United States as the location.

As you can see, this is an incredibly lucrative, and obviously a fiercely competitive niche, too.
Advertisers are paying Google over $8 and $4.64 (the CPC figures in the screenshot are in
British Pounds not US Dollars) respectively for the car and cars keywords.

No wonder, Google is so rich.

LOL!

ANT Case Study

I used my ANT strategies to infiltrate this super-niche, and I was able to achieve multiple
Page One rankings within three weeks. I am going to show you exactly how I achieved that
feat.

The incredible thing is that I didn’t even try that hard. It was during the summer holiday… I
took the family to Paris… I had the kids and wife at home throughout the period – so I
wasn’t exactly working very hard.

I also made some very careless mistakes – one of which resulted in over 300 submitted SEO
articles being deleted. That means that I lost an awful lot of already indexed backlinks. I
actually thought that my website was going to suffer, and that I would lose rankings. In the
end - it wasn’t that bad. I did lose some rankings – but not by a lot. In many cases I dropped
from Page One to the top of Page 2.

The main consequence, though, in my opinion is that the progress of my rankings was
delayed, and I wasn’t able to hit the top 3 of Google as quickly as I should have.

However, I still have multiple Page One rankings today (11th of September, 2011).

I am actually targeting the car niche as a real residual income earner for myself, and have
several websites in the niche, and I can’t reveal all my websites, for obvious reasons.

So what I’ve done is create a website specifically for this case study. This allows me to
show you exactly what I did, without holding back any information.

So let’s get started…

Frictionless Market Research

I opened up my Swipe File of 4,000+ niches, and I browsed through to look for an interesting
seed niche to use. In this case, I thought that Used Car Dealers looked interesting enough to
warrant some brainstorming.

These are the results of entering both the singular and plural versions of the keyword plus
some location post-modifiers plus selecting both Exact Match and Phrase Match. I didn’t
select Broad Match because I don’t really bother with BT1:

The first three: used cars dealers, used car dealer, and used car dealers in all look good from
a BT2 point of view. Their Exact Match searches volumes are much lower than the Phrase
Match volumes, and this means that the absolute and relative BT2 values are good.

Even the next two are very attractive for someone who wants to target a smaller sub-niche.
I wanted to target a larger sub-niche, and for me used car dealers in is the sub-niche that I
would have selected.

                                                                                                      3
ANT Case Study

However, since I am also an SNR (my Scientific Niche Research) ninja, I decided to apply
some SNR techniques. As an aside, if you are familiar with SNR, I suggest you do the same.
That way – you’ll discover thousands more niches that do not even appear in the Swipe File.

Hmm… that means even more Frictionless Market Research. 

You’ve got your brain in gear, today dude.

Please note that using SNR techniques is entirely optional. You will still achieve
devastatingly good results without using SNR.

So, I go back to my keyword Tool, and enter just used car dealers and used card dealer, and I
then sort by descending order of volume. This is what I get:

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 4
                                                                                                    4
ANT Case Study

BINGO!!! Under Keyword ideas, I immediately spot used cars, car sales and used cars for
sale which have much more volume than the original seed niches. Used cars for sale is also a
4-word keyword – which means longer tail and less competition.

So I do some brainstorming with those three. I select both Exact and Phrase, and sort by
keyword:

The ones that stand out to me are car sales in, used car for sales in and used cars in -
because the volumes for Exact Matches are much smaller than for Phrase Matches –
meaning we have a very high relative value for BT2. The relative values for BT2 are: 99.8%,
99.9% and 99.1% respectively.

WOW!

I opt for used car for sales in because it is the longest tail of the three, so I know it should be
the least competitive of the three niches. If I had gone by the rules in the Model Blueprint
(remember that I don’t), then I would have picked used cars in because it has the highest
absolute BT2 value.

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 5
                                                                                                          5
ANT Case Study

I said it at the start of the Model Blueprint, but it bears repeating, so I’ll do just that: I
strongly suggest that you create your own personalized Blueprint, instead of using the
Model blueprint in its exact form.

So used cars for sale in is my seed niche.

The next step is to add locations. I am targeting the 50 states in the US, so that would
require me to type in used cars for sale in and then append each of the 50 States to the end.
That is too tedious, and one of the reasons why I created the Bermuda Triangulator.

With the Bermuda Triangulator (BTor) – I can just copy a list of the 50 States into a text file
and BT will do the grunt work for me. 

Anyway, at the time… I didn’t have BTor, and I am a lazy sod…

Yes, you are!

I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. 

So I just did the Keyword Research for 11 states, and then I ranked them according to
competition. I used Strength of Competition (SOC) to rank, but like I said in the main guide –
using SOC is quite tedious, and I honestly doubt that I would have done that for 50 States.

As an aside, one thing we could do is add the SOC ranking functionality to BTor. Food for
thought… Hmm…

This is the result of my ranking with 10 States blanked out because I am also targeting them:

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 6
                                                                                                      6
ANT Case Study

Indiana, from my ranking was the easiest to rank. So whilst I uploaded Content On Demand
for all 11 keywords, I focused my backlinking efforts on Indiana and the next 4 keywords
plus I also backlinked one of the hardest keywords. The reason I did that is because it had
the most search volume…

And Oz is greedy.



So I started off by backlinking six keywords (all the green rows, actually). We’ll talk more
about SEO later.

Didn’t you say in the manual that we should only target 3 – 5?

Well dude, in case you’ve just noticed – those rules are just guidelines, and that’s why I
suggest everybody makes their own rules. In any event, rules are made to be broken. 

BTW… I added another 12 keywords later – when I was feeling more energetic.

Now, the obvious thing to do is to build a large authority site, and target all the 50 states.
But for the purposes of this case study – I decided to target just the State of Indiana, and
luckily UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org was available, so I registered it on the 21st of August –
exactly 3 weeks from today (the 11th of September).

Let’s digress briefly… if you don’t mind

Let’s look at what I’ve been able to achieve in that three weeks, without really trying hard at
all:

Those results are for Google.com, from Rank Tracker. Results will vary depending on your
data center. I actually ranked higher for the broad match yesterday (10th September):

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media

                                                                                                      8
ANT Case Study

Why are you also checking for the phrase match? No one actually does a search with
quotes.

Great point... I do that to track progress – because rankings for the phrase match show up
earlier than the broad match – and I typically only search the top 200 results (instead of top
500 or 1,000). When you have as many domains and keywords as I do, you don’t want to be
wasting time searching the top 1000 results for each keyword.

The screenshot above is for the phrase match, and you can see that just three days after
registering the domain (24th September), I was ranking No. 74 for the search with quotes –
whereas I wasn’t in the top 200 for the broad match. And I’ve been able to track the
progress just by watching the phrase match.

Obviously, once the broad match is ranking in the top 200 – I don’t really need to track the
phrase match.

Rank Tracker is a paid product and excellent for tracking progress, but SEOBook actually has
a Rank Checker plugin for Firefox which is free. The main difference is that Rank Checker
doesn’t let you track progress.

Sorry, but I don’t trust those screenshot. Why aren’t you showing me an actual search in
Google?

Ah… I find Rank Tracker faster, but I’m happy to oblige:

I’m actually No. 3 in the organic results of Google.com for my data center, but not in the top
30 for Google.co.uk 

Are you signed into Google?

Nope.

ANT Case Study

Kewl. Now I can believe those results.

Whatever.

Actually, I just realized that I haven’t shown you how many searches the keyword gets:

ANT Case Study

Personally, I only consider the volume for the exact match, other people like use the phrase
match or broad match. It’s a free world. 

Anyway, as you can see this isn’t some pithy keyword with no traffic. The CPC is also over
$2.00, by the way.

And you got to Page One in less than three weeks?

Yep. And that was without even trying really hard, and also focusing on other websites and
keywords.

How are you doing in terms of traffic?

Erm… Let’s have a look...

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 12

ANT Case Study

So, looks like there was an inexplicable spike in traffic on the 24th and 25th of August, but
since the 1st of September (11 days after domain registered). It’s been averaging at least 10
or so visitors a day - without even being on Page One of Google, let alone top spot.

Thinking about this phenomenon of traffic before rankings… I imagine that some of that
little trickle of traffic (apart from the spiders) was from Social Media and Article Directory
sites that I submitted regenerated articles to. Personally, I use my article submissions solely
for backlinks, and don’t really bother about the traffic, but I won’t say NO to any traffic they
send my way. 

BTW… I also have Page One rankings for most of the five other keywords that I’ve been
backlinking…

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media

ANT Case Study

And let’s look at the traffic from those keywords:

An average of 30 or so visits a day, and this was from the website where I lost over 300
backlinks, and I am yet to hit top spot for any of the keywords. 

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media

ANT Case Study

This is in a super-niche where advertisers are paying Google over $4 per click!

And just to put things into some sort of perspective, and show you what life could be
without ANT, here’s an established website that I haven’t applied ANT to:

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 15
                                                                                             15
ANT Case Study

So an established site without ANT is averaging 5 visits a day, but by applying ANT
strategies, I’ve been able to drive an average of more than 20 visits a day to a site (my other
site, not the Indiana site) that is less 4 weeks old.

In fact, if I were to combine the traffic from all my sites in the car/cars niche, in the first
three weeks of their existence – it exceeds 40 visits a day.

And I’ve done this without trying very hard. Imagine how much traffic you can generate
with ANT if you do it seriously.

Ok… back on track now.

Sorry for veering of track, but I wanted you to see how effective ANT is at generating
NonStop traffic quickly.

Since I was focusing just on the State of Indiana – I needed to dig deeper, by using the
recursive prospecting approach. There are two distinct ways to go about this…

      1. Get a list of all the major towns and cities in Indiana, and analyse the keywords for
different combinations of used cars, used cars sales, used cars for sale, used cars
for sale in, cars for sale etc. with the names of the cities and towns appended to
          each keyword.

      2. Look for keywords hiding in the Bermuda Triangle for used cars for sale in Indiana.

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 16
                                                                                                   16
ANT Case Study

At the time, I didn’t have BTor, and I am obviously too lazy to search for all the cities in
Indiana, and then append each city to all the different keywords. So, I didn’t bother.
Remember, I said I wasn’t even trying hard.

Here are results for the initial brainstorming…

Based on the screenshot above – used cars Indiana and cars for sale in Indiana have the
biggest BT2s, and should be the focus of recursive prospecting.

What I did next was type in Indiana into the Include field, and click the + button, and then
select only Exact, and then sort by descending Search Volume. This is what I get:

© Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media
The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 17
                                                                                                17
ANT Case Study

I selected a number of these keywords for the UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website, but I
was too lazy and busy to rank them properly – so I just eyeballed them.

The moral of the story here is that the ANT system is so thorough that even when you don’t
execute it perfectly you will still get very good results. Obviously, I would have had more
traffic if I had done a better job of the Market Research…

Just proves that Oz ain’t perfect, aye?

Couldn’t have said it better, myself. I actually did a much better job of Market Research
with the other site, but that’s because I didn’t have to dig deeper than State level for that
site.

The lesson I learnt is that to execute ANT on a large and/or deep scale will be difficult (but
not impossible) without automation.

Let’s move on…

Accelerated Content Development

I wrote a unique article for the static home page of the website. Doing this is a good idea,
but not absolutely essential. The reason I did this – was because one of the Blog Networks I
use likes to see 100% unique content on websites.

So, what I did was write a unique article for the home page, and then I uploaded the seed
article (before it was rewritten and spun) to another static page, and then I added a Contact
Us page, too.

It is nice to have a static home page with its own unique content, but I must admit that it’s
not something that I do very often, myself.

Content On Demand

Luckily, I own WPEasyContent (WPEC) – so uploading reoptimized content was a piece of
cake.

Since, I didn’t start off with that many keywords on the website – I uploaded reoptimized content
for all the keywords, as opposed to just 50% of the easiest ones. Also having WPEC means that even
if I had 200 keywords, it still wouldn’t have taken me any more effort and time.

What I did was use some of the broader (more search volume) keywords in the super
niche to search for content. So instead of searching for used cars for sale in northwest indiana,
used cars for sale in indiana by owner, indianapolis used cars etc; I searched for keywords like: cars
for sale, used cars, used trucks, buy used cars etc.

To get the broad keywords keywords to use for searching, I just typed in one broad keyword e.g.
used cars into the keyword Tool search box and then sorted by descending volume. I then picked
some of the top keywords from the keyword ideas section.

I then used each specific keyword I was targeting to reoptimze the header and footer for each
article.

So basically, WPEC (you can also do this manually, if you don’t own WPEC) would import an article
for cars for sale, and then in the header and footer it would use used cars for sale in Northwest
Indiana as #KW1#.

ANT Case Study

With WPEC, I scheduled it to randomly import between 0 and 2 articles a day. So on some days no
article was imported, on some days only one article was imported, and on other days two articles
were imported (at different times of the day).

The strategy of Content On Demand allowed me to start backlinking my chosen URLS from Day One,
instead of having to wait for content for all those keywords to be written. That’s why I was able to
rank so quickly, and had traffic within 10 days of registering the domain.

While my competition would typically take a week or so to get their content sorted – I was already
getting traffic from Social Media sites etc.

Content Maximization

As soon as I created the domain, I contracted a good writer to write me a generic article about
“buying cars”. I think the target keyword I used was used cars for sale in Washington, and the
location was obviously Washington. I got the article back within a few days.

I then replaced every instance of used cars for sale in Washington with #KW1#, and every instance of
Washington with #KW2#. I call this a tokenized article, and I sent it to a writer who specialises in
rewriting for spinning, and the writer used the tokenized article to create a seed article.

I spun the seed article to create lots of regenerated versions, and I replaced #KW1# and #KW2# with
the appropriate keywords and locations. After doing that, I then replaced the reoptimized articles on
UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org with regenerated articles. This is a tedious process, and I got my VA in
the Phillipines to do it for me.

We are adding this functionality to WPEC, so users of WPEC will be able to upload the seed article to
WPEC, click a few buttons and WPEC will do all the grunt work for them. 

Also, because of the tedium, I didn’t randomize the ordering and numbers of paragraphs. However,
this is a feature that both Content Maximizer (CM) and WPEC will soon offer.

You can have a look at the UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website to see how I’ve created lots of
unique articles just from one seed article. If I had randomized the ordering and numbers of
paragraphs – the uniqueness of the articles would be even higher.

ANT Case Study

Accelerated SEO

I applied Essential On Page SEO steps to all the regenerated articles, and in some cases, I
also applied one or two Optional On Page SEO steps.

In terms of backlinking, these are the keywords that I focused on:

 used cars for sale in Indiana

 used cars for sale in Indiana by owner

 used cars in Indianapolis Indiana

 used cars for sale in Fort Wayne Indiana

The first keyword is the domain name and keyword for the static home page of the website, while
the others three keywords are used for posts.

One thing I didn’t do, which I should have done was to submit the paragraphs from the original seed
article to one of the Blog Networks that insists on 100% unique content. I should have done this
before uploading the regenerated versions to my website. Then after it was approved, I would
pause the scheduling of posts, and then submit the original article to EzineArticles, and then start
putting regenerated versions of the seed article on my website.

I didn’t do this, and missed out on using the article for that Blog Network and EzineArticles.

I didn’t have time to do bookmarking on this website, so I went straight to submitting regenerated
versions of the seed article to Article Directories, Social Media sites and Blog Networks (for the main
keyword – used cars for sale in Indiana only).

Because, I am applying the Just-In-Time SEO and Iterative SEO strategies – I didn’t want to start using
the Blog Networks until I needed to. I’ve managed to get 2 out of the other 3 keywords to Pages 2
and 3 of Google.

ANT Case Study

So, I’m now going to focus on just the main keyword and the keyword on Page 2 , and drive both of
them to the top 3 in Google. Blog Networks will play a major role in this.

I haven’t used Indexation or automation much on this UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website. I do
have some of the automation tools and indexation services, but I haven’t had the time to set them
up on the website.

I haven’t also use backlinks from Social networking sites yet, although I have gone to the trouble of
registering accounts.

You’ve already seen how much traffic the website receives in its infancy. I’d like to drive at least
100 visitors a day to the website and then I’ll let it run on auto-pilot. I reckon that I can do the
next 4 weeks if I put my heart to it… and I do intend to.

For monetization, Adsense is an obvious one, but as a rule, I don’t monetize my test and demo sites.
Personal reasons… and all that. I might flip this site, though.

For my other websites in this niche, I actually intend to rent pages or sell advertising space.

We’ll be covering monetization extensively in the Profit Optimization Techniques (POT) newsletter.
Have you signed up?

That brings us the end of the ANT Case Study.

An ANT, as you can imagine, is a living and breathing being. This friendly ANT is no different,
and we are continually looking to grow and improve it.

  • 4. ANT Case Study Introduction As far as I know, my Accelerated NonStop Traffic (ANT) strategies are new and have NOT been revealed by anybody else, as far as I know. In fact, one person told me that these strategies are cutting edge bleeding edge – and that happens to be exactly the same phrase I use to describe ANT, myself. Not only is ANT bleeding edge – it is very effective as well. ANT is NOT idle theory - because I have used ANT strategies to infiltrate and dominate a one-word trillion dollar niche within three weeks. That niche is the car/cars niche. This niche has over 4.5 million Exact Match Global searches a day, and advertisers are paying a lot of money to Google for clicks. Here is a screenshot of the Keyword Tool, using United States as the location. As you can see, this is an incredibly lucrative, and obviously a fiercely competitive niche, too. Advertisers are paying Google over $8 and $4.64 (the CPC figures in the screenshot are in British Pounds not US Dollars) respectively for the car and cars keywords. No wonder, Google is so rich. LOL! © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 1 1
  • 5. ANT Case Study I used my ANT strategies to infiltrate this super-niche, and I was able to achieve multiple Page One rankings within three weeks. I am going to show you exactly how I achieved that feat. The incredible thing is that I didn’t even try that hard. It was during the summer holiday… I took the family to Paris… I had the kids and wife at home throughout the period – so I wasn’t exactly working very hard. I also made some very careless mistakes – one of which resulted in over 300 submitted SEO articles being deleted. That means that I lost an awful lot of already indexed backlinks. I actually thought that my website was going to suffer, and that I would lose rankings. In the end - it wasn’t that bad. I did lose some rankings – but not by a lot. In many cases I dropped from Page One to the top of Page 2. The main consequence, though, in my opinion is that the progress of my rankings was delayed, and I wasn’t able to hit the top 3 of Google as quickly as I should have. However, I still have multiple Page One rankings today (11th of September, 2011). I am actually targeting the car niche as a real residual income earner for myself, and have several websites in the niche, and I can’t reveal all my websites, for obvious reasons. So what I’ve done is create a website specifically for this case study. This allows me to show you exactly what I did, without holding back any information. So let’s get started… © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 2 2
  • 6. ANT Case Study Frictionless Market Research I opened up my Swipe File of 4,000+ niches, and I browsed through to look for an interesting seed niche to use. In this case, I thought that Used Car Dealers looked interesting enough to warrant some brainstorming. These are the results of entering both the singular and plural versions of the keyword plus some location post-modifiers plus selecting both Exact Match and Phrase Match. I didn’t select Broad Match because I don’t really bother with BT1: The first three: used cars dealers, used car dealer, and used car dealers in all look good from a BT2 point of view. Their Exact Match searches volumes are much lower than the Phrase Match volumes, and this means that the absolute and relative BT2 values are good. Even the next two are very attractive for someone who wants to target a smaller sub-niche. I wanted to target a larger sub-niche, and for me used car dealers in is the sub-niche that I would have selected. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 3 3
  • 7. ANT Case Study However, since I am also an SNR (my Scientific Niche Research) ninja, I decided to apply some SNR techniques. As an aside, if you are familiar with SNR, I suggest you do the same. That way – you’ll discover thousands more niches that do not even appear in the Swipe File. Hmm… that means even more Frictionless Market Research.  You’ve got your brain in gear, today dude. Please note that using SNR techniques is entirely optional. You will still achieve devastatingly good results without using SNR. So, I go back to my keyword Tool, and enter just used car dealers and used card dealer, and I then sort by descending order of volume. This is what I get: © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 4 4
  • 8. ANT Case Study BINGO!!! Under Keyword ideas, I immediately spot used cars, car sales and used cars for sale which have much more volume than the original seed niches. Used cars for sale is also a 4-word keyword – which means longer tail and less competition. So I do some brainstorming with those three. I select both Exact and Phrase, and sort by keyword: The ones that stand out to me are car sales in, used car for sales in and used cars in - because the volumes for Exact Matches are much smaller than for Phrase Matches – meaning we have a very high relative value for BT2. The relative values for BT2 are: 99.8%, 99.9% and 99.1% respectively. WOW! I opt for used car for sales in because it is the longest tail of the three, so I know it should be the least competitive of the three niches. If I had gone by the rules in the Model Blueprint (remember that I don’t), then I would have picked used cars in because it has the highest absolute BT2 value. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 5 5
  • 9. ANT Case Study I said it at the start of the Model Blueprint, but it bears repeating, so I’ll do just that: I strongly suggest that you create your own personalized Blueprint, instead of using the Model blueprint in its exact form. So used cars for sale in is my seed niche. The next step is to add locations. I am targeting the 50 states in the US, so that would require me to type in used cars for sale in and then append each of the 50 States to the end. That is too tedious, and one of the reasons why I created the Bermuda Triangulator. With the Bermuda Triangulator (BTor) – I can just copy a list of the 50 States into a text file and BT will do the grunt work for me.  Anyway, at the time… I didn’t have BTor, and I am a lazy sod… Yes, you are! I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.  So I just did the Keyword Research for 11 states, and then I ranked them according to competition. I used Strength of Competition (SOC) to rank, but like I said in the main guide – using SOC is quite tedious, and I honestly doubt that I would have done that for 50 States. As an aside, one thing we could do is add the SOC ranking functionality to BTor. Food for thought… Hmm… This is the result of my ranking with 10 States blanked out because I am also targeting them: © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 6 6
  • 10. ANT Case Study Indiana, from my ranking was the easiest to rank. So whilst I uploaded Content On Demand for all 11 keywords, I focused my backlinking efforts on Indiana and the next 4 keywords plus I also backlinked one of the hardest keywords. The reason I did that is because it had the most search volume… And Oz is greedy.  So I started off by backlinking six keywords (all the green rows, actually). We’ll talk more about SEO later. Didn’t you say in the manual that we should only target 3 – 5? Well dude, in case you’ve just noticed – those rules are just guidelines, and that’s why I suggest everybody makes their own rules. In any event, rules are made to be broken.  BTW… I added another 12 keywords later – when I was feeling more energetic. Now, the obvious thing to do is to build a large authority site, and target all the 50 states. But for the purposes of this case study – I decided to target just the State of Indiana, and luckily UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org was available, so I registered it on the 21st of August – exactly 3 weeks from today (the 11th of September). © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 7 7
  • 11. ANT Case Study Let’s digress briefly… if you don’t mind Let’s look at what I’ve been able to achieve in that three weeks, without really trying hard at all: Those results are for Google.com, from Rank Tracker. Results will vary depending on your data center. I actually ranked higher for the broad match yesterday (10th September): © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 8 8
  • 12. ANT Case Study Why are you also checking for the phrase match? No one actually does a search with quotes. Great point... I do that to track progress – because rankings for the phrase match show up earlier than the broad match – and I typically only search the top 200 results (instead of top 500 or 1,000). When you have as many domains and keywords as I do, you don’t want to be wasting time searching the top 1000 results for each keyword. The screenshot above is for the phrase match, and you can see that just three days after registering the domain (24th September), I was ranking No. 74 for the search with quotes – whereas I wasn’t in the top 200 for the broad match. And I’ve been able to track the progress just by watching the phrase match. Obviously, once the broad match is ranking in the top 200 – I don’t really need to track the phrase match. Rank Tracker is a paid product and excellent for tracking progress, but SEOBook actually has a Rank Checker plugin for Firefox which is free. The main difference is that Rank Checker doesn’t let you track progress. Sorry, but I don’t trust those screenshot. Why aren’t you showing me an actual search in Google? Ah… I find Rank Tracker faster, but I’m happy to oblige: © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 9 9
  • 13. ANT Case Study I’m actually No. 3 in the organic results of Google.com for my data center, but not in the top 30 for Google.co.uk  Are you signed into Google? • 15. ANT Case Study Personally, I only consider the volume for the exact match, other people like use the phrase match or broad match. It’s a free world.  Anyway, as you can see this isn’t some pithy keyword with no traffic. The CPC is also over $2.00, by the way. And you got to Page One in less than three weeks? Yep. And that was without even trying really hard, and also focusing on other websites and keywords. How are you doing in terms of traffic? Erm… Let’s have a look... © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 12 12
  • 16. ANT Case Study So, looks like there was an inexplicable spike in traffic on the 24th and 25th of August, but since the 1st of September (11 days after domain registered). It’s been averaging at least 10 or so visitors a day - without even being on Page One of Google, let alone top spot. Thinking about this phenomenon of traffic before rankings… I imagine that some of that little trickle of traffic (apart from the spiders) was from Social Media and Article Directory sites that I submitted regenerated articles to. Personally, I use my article submissions solely for backlinks, and don’t really bother about the traffic, but I won’t say NO to any traffic they send my way.  BTW… I also have Page One rankings for most of the five other keywords that I’ve been backlinking… © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 13 13
  • 17. ANT Case Study And let’s look at the traffic from those keywords: An average of 30 or so visits a day, and this was from the website where I lost over 300 backlinks, and I am yet to hit top spot for any of the keywords.  © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 14 14
  • 18. ANT Case Study This is in a super-niche where advertisers are paying Google over $4 per click! And just to put things into some sort of perspective, and show you what life could be without ANT, here’s an established website that I haven’t applied ANT to: © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 15 15
  • 19. ANT Case Study So an established site without ANT is averaging 5 visits a day, but by applying ANT strategies, I’ve been able to drive an average of more than 20 visits a day to a site (my other site, not the Indiana site) that is less 4 weeks old. In fact, if I were to combine the traffic from all my sites in the car/cars niche, in the first three weeks of their existence – it exceeds 40 visits a day. And I’ve done this without trying very hard. Imagine how much traffic you can generate with ANT if you do it seriously. Ok… back on track now. Sorry for veering of track, but I wanted you to see how effective ANT is at generating NonStop traffic quickly. Since I was focusing just on the State of Indiana – I needed to dig deeper, by using the recursive prospecting approach. There are two distinct ways to go about this… 1. Get a list of all the major towns and cities in Indiana, and analyse the keywords for different combinations of used cars, used cars sales, used cars for sale, used cars for sale in, cars for sale etc. with the names of the cities and towns appended to each keyword. 2. Look for keywords hiding in the Bermuda Triangle for used cars for sale in Indiana. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 16 16
  • 20. ANT Case Study At the time, I didn’t have BTor, and I am obviously too lazy to search for all the cities in Indiana, and then append each city to all the different keywords. So, I didn’t bother. Remember, I said I wasn’t even trying hard. Here are results for the initial brainstorming… Based on the screenshot above – used cars Indiana and cars for sale in Indiana have the biggest BT2s, and should be the focus of recursive prospecting. What I did next was type in Indiana into the Include field, and click the + button, and then select only Exact, and then sort by descending Search Volume. This is what I get: © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 17 17
  • 21. ANT Case Study I selected a number of these keywords for the UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website, but I was too lazy and busy to rank them properly – so I just eyeballed them. The moral of the story here is that the ANT system is so thorough that even when you don’t execute it perfectly you will still get very good results. Obviously, I would have had more traffic if I had done a better job of the Market Research… Just proves that Oz ain’t perfect, aye? Couldn’t have said it better, myself. I actually did a much better job of Market Research with the other site, but that’s because I didn’t have to dig deeper than State level for that site. The lesson I learnt is that to execute ANT on a large and/or deep scale will be difficult (but not impossible) without automation. Let’s move on… © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 18 18
  • 22. ANT Case Study Accelerated Content Development I wrote a unique article for the static home page of the website. Doing this is a good idea, but not absolutely essential. The reason I did this – was because one of the Blog Networks I use likes to see 100% unique content on websites. So, what I did was write a unique article for the home page, and then I uploaded the seed article (before it was rewritten and spun) to another static page, and then I added a Contact Us page, too. It is nice to have a static home page with its own unique content, but I must admit that it’s not something that I do very often, myself. Content On Demand Luckily, I own WPEasyContent (WPEC) – so uploading reoptimized content was a piece of cake. Since, I didn’t start off with that many keywords on the website – I uploaded reoptimized content for all the keywords, as opposed to just 50% of the easiest ones. Also having WPEC means that even if I had 200 keywords, it still wouldn’t have taken me any more effort and time. What I did was use some of the broader (more search volume) keywords in the super niche to search for content. So instead of searching for used cars for sale in northwest indiana, used cars for sale in indiana by owner, indianapolis used cars etc; I searched for keywords like: cars for sale, used cars, used trucks, buy used cars etc. To get the broad keywords keywords to use for searching, I just typed in one broad keyword e.g. used cars into the keyword Tool search box and then sorted by descending volume. I then picked some of the top keywords from the keyword ideas section. I then used each specific keyword I was targeting to reoptimze the header and footer for each article. So basically, WPEC (you can also do this manually, if you don’t own WPEC) would import an article for cars for sale, and then in the header and footer it would use used cars for sale in Northwest Indiana as #KW1#. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 19 19
  • 23. ANT Case Study With WPEC, I scheduled it to randomly import between 0 and 2 articles a day. So on some days no article was imported, on some days only one article was imported, and on other days two articles were imported (at different times of the day). The strategy of Content On Demand allowed me to start backlinking my chosen URLS from Day One, instead of having to wait for content for all those keywords to be written. That’s why I was able to rank so quickly, and had traffic within 10 days of registering the domain. While my competition would typically take a week or so to get their content sorted – I was already getting traffic from Social Media sites etc. Content Maximization As soon as I created the domain, I contracted a good writer to write me a generic article about “buying cars”. I think the target keyword I used was used cars for sale in Washington, and the location was obviously Washington. I got the article back within a few days. I then replaced every instance of used cars for sale in Washington with #KW1#, and every instance of Washington with #KW2#. I call this a tokenized article, and I sent it to a writer who specialises in rewriting for spinning, and the writer used the tokenized article to create a seed article. I spun the seed article to create lots of regenerated versions, and I replaced #KW1# and #KW2# with the appropriate keywords and locations. After doing that, I then replaced the reoptimized articles on UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org with regenerated articles. This is a tedious process, and I got my VA in the Phillipines to do it for me. We are adding this functionality to WPEC, so users of WPEC will be able to upload the seed article to WPEC, click a few buttons and WPEC will do all the grunt work for them.  Also, because of the tedium, I didn’t randomize the ordering and numbers of paragraphs. However, this is a feature that both Content Maximizer (CM) and WPEC will soon offer. You can have a look at the UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website to see how I’ve created lots of unique articles just from one seed article. If I had randomized the ordering and numbers of paragraphs – the uniqueness of the articles would be even higher. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 20 20
  • 24. ANT Case Study Accelerated SEO I applied Essential On Page SEO steps to all the regenerated articles, and in some cases, I also applied one or two Optional On Page SEO steps. In terms of backlinking, these are the keywords that I focused on:  used cars for sale in Indiana  used cars for sale in Indiana by owner  used cars in Indianapolis Indiana  used cars for sale in Fort Wayne Indiana The first keyword is the domain name and keyword for the static home page of the website, while the others three keywords are used for posts. One thing I didn’t do, which I should have done was to submit the paragraphs from the original seed article to one of the Blog Networks that insists on 100% unique content. I should have done this before uploading the regenerated versions to my website. Then after it was approved, I would pause the scheduling of posts, and then submit the original article to EzineArticles, and then start putting regenerated versions of the seed article on my website. I didn’t do this, and missed out on using the article for that Blog Network and EzineArticles. I didn’t have time to do bookmarking on this website, so I went straight to submitting regenerated versions of the seed article to Article Directories, Social Media sites and Blog Networks (for the main keyword – used cars for sale in Indiana only). Because, I am applying the Just-In-Time SEO and Iterative SEO strategies – I didn’t want to start using the Blog Networks until I needed to. I’ve managed to get 2 out of the other 3 keywords to Pages 2 and 3 of Google. © Copyright Addictive Text, 2011 – All rights reserved in all media The DON™ and Dominate Online Niches™ are trademarks of Addictive Text 21 21
  • 25. ANT Case Study So, I’m now going to focus on just the main keyword and the keyword on Page 2 , and drive both of them to the top 3 in Google. Blog Networks will play a major role in this. I haven’t used Indexation or automation much on this UsedCarsForSaleInIndiana.org website. I do have some of the automation tools and indexation services, but I haven’t had the time to set them up on the website. I haven’t also use backlinks from Social networking sites yet, although I have gone to the trouble of registering accounts. You’ve already seen how much traffic the website receives in its infancy. I’d like to drive at least 100 visitors a day to the website and then I’ll let it run on auto-pilot. I reckon that I can do the next 4 weeks if I put my heart to it… and I do intend to.
