Android is an open source operating system developed by Android Inc which was later acquired by Google. It is based on the Linux kernel and allows companies to use the Android code and develop applications for it. Some key facts about Android include that it was first released in 2008, supports features like wireless communication, multi-tasking and a customizable interface. Android has continued to release updated versions annually with improvements to performance, features and compatibility.
