It was an excitingyearwhere we achieved ourlongtermgoal to create networksof immigrantwomenaround

creatinga communityfarmdidnot go toofar, because the communitydidnotsee anyeconomic benefitoutof it.
We triedbutwe failed. Ourfood-basedsocialenterpriseismovingwell asfaras skill developmentisconcernbut
profitwise,we didnotdo so well, though, we are successful inhelping ourclientstoopen abig restaurant

We wantto developtwomore networks, one forfinancial servicesandsecondforcare givers. We will report
back nextyearaboutthe update of current networksanddevelopmentof new networks.
We have createdsome newpartnershipsalongthe way. We are now an affiliatedmemberof Townof Ajax. We

Curriculum
We are very happy to announce that we now have a curriculum to follow for our training programs.
Mary Ferguson was kind enough to lend us her training curriculums to follow, but she could not tailor
those according to our needs within the budget. So we asked our training consultant, Linda Ruddy, to
look at all these manuals, and combined with her experience with our clients, produce a Curriculum for
our organization. She took that job and created a wonderful CED curriculum within the budget. We are
happy to report that in our Citizenship and Immigration Canada proposal we attached a summary of
that CED Curriculum which we would follow in case we are awarded the funding for South Asian
newcomer women.
Training Sessions
CED for Immigrant Women started a series of four workshops every month, starting from the month of
April 2010, for Strategic Planning and Professional Development of clients through the “Prepare for
Tomorrow Strategic Planning and Leadership Development Program” facilitated by Linda Ruddy from
LMR Consulting. Clients learned about Goal Setting, Action Plans, Marketing Mix Analysis, Marketing
Plan Development, Sales and Budgeting Strategies, the development of Procedures, Processes and
Business Standards, Customer Service and Retention, Leadership and Human Resources, and lastly, DiSC
Personality Assessments.
Governance
On December 2009, 8 board members from CED for Immigrant Women participated in a board
development workshop conducted by Howard Smith from United Way, who is our mentor in many
respects. The board members learned about their roles and responsibilities, and their rights and duties.
As our membership list is increasing in size we are having trouble updating it every year with new
address, phone numbers and e-mails. Howard smith is mentoring us to deal with this situation based on
his extensive experience with non-profits organizations.

Communications
We have changed our semi-annual newsletters to quarterly newsletter. These newsletters highlight all
of our activities throughout the 3-month period. Our website is now continuously updated, and this is a
great way for our viewers to go on and take a look at all our latest updates. Viewers have an option of
choosing English or Urdu language from our website. CED would like to acknowledge Nuzhath Khan, a
board member, who worked very hard in trying to issue a newspaper for the organization but
unfortunately due to lack of resources we were not able to produce a newspaper this year.
