IKSL provides low-cost mobile services to empower rural farmers in India with relevant information. It uses push technologies like voice messages and pull technologies like helplines to deliver agricultural information from sources like IFFCO and universities to farmers. It partners with organizations like Commonwealth of Learning to develop content. Success stories show how individual farmers and women's groups have improved incomes and living standards by implementing the information received from IKSL. Surveys found over 70% of farmers find the messages useful and more than half depend on IKSL as their sole information source. In 2010-11, IKSL reached over 4 million customers across 18 states and 10 languages.
