PROJECT WORK (PG/UG)
Thermal And Mechanical Design of Heat Exchanger using Process Simulator
This work related with optimization of industrial designs from companies (VR Powegen
Equipmentz, Coimbatore). Simulators used are ASPEN EDR, HTRI Suit. Aim was to
optimize Heat transfer area which directly affects the fixed cost of the equipment with
maintaining operating cost. Also includes analysis of shell side flow with variation of Baffle
Cut, Tube length, Shell diameter.
Heat Exchanger Network Design for Vinyl Chloride Monomer Unit
Aim was to maximize energy recovery and minimize utility consumption by pinch design
method with use of “Aspen Energy Analyzer”, case study from Finolex Industries
limited, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Got Energy Savings with appropriate use of utilities (for
hot utilities 15.76% and for cold utilities 47.52%).
