This document summarizes a study comparing the effectiveness of two different designs for helping birds cross a highway in New South Wales, Australia. The study looked at a bridge and an underpass at two locations and recorded bird sightings over two years. It found that the bridge was more effective at allowing birds to cross overhead and at the sides compared to the underpass, which had much higher movement rates directly through the structure. In total, over half of the woodland bird species in the area were observed crossing the highway at each location using the different structures.
