Khaimah
Over the past several years, Ras Al
Khaimah's manufacturing economy has taken
a number of exciting turns. From its coveted
position as a leading Middle Eastern
manufacturer of structural cement to the
regional dominance of Gulf Pharmaceuticals,
RAK's industry has come into its own under
the direction of Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
Nowhere is this newfound economic strength
more palpable than in the ongoing success of
RAK Ceramics.

3. His Highness: Overseeing 20 Years of
Quality and Growth
Like many successful companies, RAK
Ceramics has overcome seemingly
formidable obstacles to achieve its present
dominance within its industry. Founded in the
late 1980s by Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the
company began its life as a relatively small
concern that manufactured about one million
square meters of tile per year and sold most
of its production to domestic companies and
end-users.

4. This is no longer the case. With the
establishment of a massive facility in the
desert near the city of Ras Al Khaimah, RAK
Ceramics now produces over 20 hectares of
high-quality tile per day. This translates to a
production capacity of nearly 120 million
square meters per year. The construction of
several new showrooms within the region will
enable the company to expand production
even further.

5. An International Partnership in the Arabian
Desert
Although it began by focusing on satisfying
the UAE's domestic demand for ceramics,
RAK Ceramics has outgrown its home
market. With Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi at the
helm, the company has forged a staggeringly
successful partnership with Italy-based
Sacmi.
