One of the ways AFCC improves the environment in which
debt settlement is conducted is through education. All AFCC
member organizations must provide educational materials or
programs for their clients, giving them the chance to learn
more about financial literacy and make more responsible
financial decisions in the future.

3.  Member organizations are specifically encouraged
to provide information on federal laws regarding
the management and collection of debt, such as
the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act, and about
specific provisions therein regarding legal
requirements for debt collection communications
and the validation of debts. AFCC also strongly
encourages its members to gain accreditation
through the Better Business Bureau. This
accreditation requires that the company is able to
provide appropriate, honest debt-related education
to customers.
