It was 2002 when my favorite baseball player Curtis Granderson was drafted by
the Detroit Tigers. Curtis has been my favorite through college and then when he was
drafted by the tigers. Therefore, that makes Curtis Granderson my personal Michigan
Hero.
I was watching his college baseball team University of Illinois because they were
playing Michigan in a game on T.V. It was when I was your and I saw this player play
and he really inspired me. He was a left handed, contact and smooth hitter, which that is
exactly what I am also, a left handed contact and smooth hitter. He batted lead-off which
means first batter, and also played center field as I do on my baseball team also. So I
thought since we had so much in common that I would start following his name around
ESPN and the news since he was going into the MLB (Major League Baseball) draft that
year. I saw on ESPN one day that he was one of the top MLB prospects going into the
league that year.
One day my dad came up to me and surprised me and said guess what! I replied
what? Curtis was just drafted in the first round by the Tigers. I was so excited! About a
week later, my dad and I were looking at Detroit Tiger merchandise on the internet and
we saw a number 28, Curtis Granderson baseball jersey, and right away I begged my dad
to buy it for me. The reason I got the jersey is because Cutis is my hero, and he inspires
me to work harder and do better at my position in baseball. Just from watching him play
on T.V. and 5 or 6 times in person at his games, makes me a better player, myself.

2. That is why Curtis Granderson is my Michigan Hero since he was born in
Lansing, Michigan, and when he was 5 moved to Chicago, Illinois. Those are some
reasons why he inspires me to be the player n baseball I am today. He still plays on the
Detroit Tigers to this day and I hope that he stays on that team for a long time because I
enjoy watching him play baseball.
