Almería is a province in southern Spain that borders Granada, Murcia, and the Mediterranean Sea. It has some of the driest areas in Europe and is known for its semiarid landscape and climate. This terrain has been used extensively as a filming location for Western movies. Greenhouse farming is now the most important economic activity, with millions of tons of vegetables exported annually, giving the area the nickname "Europe's pantry." The province contains beautiful, untouched beaches along its 219km of coastline.
