Alime Fataua presents their final portfolio for their radio class. They discuss enjoying the class more than expected and feeling less shy speaking publicly. Their portfolio includes segments on Black History Month about Pauli Murray, Native American Heritage Month about Queen Liliuokalani, and a showreel of their work. Overall, Alime felt radio helped make them more outgoing and enjoyed working with their group of friends to produce shows.

2. About me
Hey my name is Alime, I am 16 years old. I am in a radio group called “The Kids
Next Door” It’s really fun to be working with such great friends. Once I first took
this class I thought it was gonna be boring but later on into the year when we
started making our shows and going on air, this class was actually enjoyable. I
feel like i’ve become less shy with speaking especially in the real world when I talk
to people. I have created a lot of good artwork like my Women’s history month
segment and my native american history month segments, especially in a group
setting with my friends. I feel like radio has made me an outgoing person.

3. My Portfolio
Title: Black History Month
Description: This segment was for Black
History Month and it talked about Pauli
Murray and how she wanted equal rights
and also how she was the Co-founder of
NOW (National Organization of
Women’s Rights.)
Process of making: This process was
easy but I had to start over when
recording many times cuz I kept
stuttering. Doing research on her was
pretty interesting because I learned a lot
of about her.

4. Title: Native American Heritage
Month.
Description: This segment was
about Queen Liliuokalani and
how she got overthrown and
how the US took over Hawaii.
Process of making: This process
was also easy but I kept
struggling to say her name
properly while recording.

pieces of shows I’ve been a part of.

6. Radio General Reflection
Throughout this year I feel like I started to have an interest in radio and recording
shows. I’ve learned a lot with how to record, edit, and how to talk in shows. Radio
was pretty fun for me this year and I recommend this class to take, you learn a lot
with how people produce their shows and podcasts behind the scenes. It was fun
working with my group because I was able to feel more comfortable and more
myself when working with my friends, plus it just makes our show even better
when we’re all very close and know each other. They showed me how to put more
energy into when I talk on the radio so thanks to them.
