Born on February 9, 1944…..in Eatonton, Georgia. Alice Walker  is the daughter of Willie Lee Walker and  Minnie Tallulah Grant Walker. Alice is youngest of eight kids.
Growing in to the young lady she  is today ~ Alice grew up around a violent racist environment. ~She  also grew up in poverty.
The Accident Alice was shot in the eye by her brother bb gun . Alice family didn’t have a car to get her to a doctor so she couldn’t get treated and she went  blind in her right eye.

She was voted most popular
She was also Queen of her class,[object Object]
She transferred to Sarah Lawrence college near New York City
She helped volunteered to help voters in Georgia and Mississippi
She sadly suffered depression and also had suicidal thoughts after getting pregnant as a senior in college
After sleeping with a razor under her pillow she got an abortion

  • 14. Giving birth She gave birth to her Daughter Rebecca Grant. In the same week her daughter was born “The Third Life of Grange Copeland” was published.Her published her book “You Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down”. And shortky after her and husband got a divorce.
  • 15. The Color Purple Alice published her best know work novel “The Color Purple” in 1982. The story was about a young girl fighting her way through racist white culture and black culture as well.
  • 16. Later Alice Walker work was being accused of being self-indulgent and rapid. Alice used her writing as an openness to exposing her personal experience.

  • 19. Alice had wrote an “Open Letter To Barack” that was published on theroot.com in 2008.
  • 20. She is now a successful writer.
  • 21. For her to have such a sad childhood she became an successful author and poet
