Alena Artamonova completed a master's thesis internship at Bosch in Stuttgart from April to September 2015. Her thesis, supervised by Dr. Thomas Pilz and Dr. Ulrich Berner with academic supervision from Prof. Jan C. Bongaerts, analyzed factors influencing the levelized cost of renewable electricity and hydrogen generation. Alena conducted literature research, developed methodology, analyzed data, and wrote the thesis. While new to the topic, she gained necessary knowledge and adapted existing methods, refining them and adding new aspects to produce valuable outcomes. Alena presented her work well at Bosch and received positive feedback.

1. Alena Artamonova was an industrial master student working for Bosch in Stuttgart between April and
September 2015. The thesis has been supervised at Bosch by Dr. Thomas Pilz and Dr. Ulrich Berner. The
academic supervision was held by Prof. Jan C. Bongaerts at the University of Freiberg.
The title of the thesis is “Techno-economic analysis of electricity and hydrogen generated from
renewable energy sources”. The task was to analyze several factors influencing the levelized cost of
renewable electricity as well as hydrogen. The theoretical work included literature research,
methodology development, data analysis and preparation as well as writing a thesis.
Work:
The topic of renewable electricity generation was new to Alena and required some training period. Yet,
Alena was able to find useful literature independently and acquired the necessary background
knowledge. Relevant theory has been identified. Regarding the used methodology, Alena adapted the
methods which were already used in the department. During her time she refined the methods and
added new aspects. The outcomes of her work were new and valuable for the project.
Alena has shown that she is able to conduct scientific research. However, there is room for
improvement especially regarding the generation of own hypothesis and in data interpretation.
Thesis:
The thesis includes the most important results written in a comprehensive language.
Presentation:
Alena presented her work at Bosch in front of several colleagues.
The presentation was well structured and received a positive feedback. Her language was clear and easy
to follow. The different topics have been presented nicely and included the most important results in an
understandable way.
