Michael Bentine devised and wrote a thirteen part children's series
about three friendly little aliens from outer space, cheerful
ambassadors from the Planet Bumble, who landed in their flying
saucer in the garden of an absent-minded professor of astronomy,
with the express purpose of getting to know the children of Earth, and
learning how to play their games.
The Bumblies had numbers rather than names. Bumbly One was their
leader and the most intelligent one. Bumbly Two was the fattest and
most jovial of the trio, and Bumbly Three was the dim one, who
always got things wrong (and was similar to the Eccles character which
Spike Milligan had made famous in The Goons).
How these Bumlies connect with Cricket
David Lloyd is known through the cricketing world
as "Bumble" because of the ostensible similarity
between his facial profile and those of the Bumblies,
characters of Michael Bentine's children's television
programmes
X is one of the most popular folk operatic theater performance forms
of South Asia, particularly in northern India. X was the biggest
entertainment medium in the villages and towns of northern India. X’s
rich musical compositions and humorous, entertaining storylines hold
a strong influence over rural people's imagination. Even after the
spread of mass media (such as television and DVDs), a crowd of 10,000
to 15,000 can be seen at the top X performances . X’s origins lie in the
Saangit, Bhagat, and Swang musical theatre traditions of Northern
India. One Saangit called Saangit Rani X Ka became so popular that
the whole genre's name became X.

The beginning of X's is fascinating. In 1941, the then Managing Director of the
organisation, from a mere urge to serve the society, started a small retail medical
store in Calcutta. After independence, when it was desired that the country should
be self-sufficient in the production of drugs and pharmaceuticals, X's again being
encouraged by some medical stalwarts of the country came forward with an
endeavour to start the manufacturing of formulations of vital and life-saving drugs in
the country. Thus in 1957 X's took bold step to establish a manufacturing unit in the
city of Calcutta its own indigenous know-how.Subsequently, X's entered into an
agreement with M/s. Sterling/Winthrop Products, U.S.A. also to process, package
and distribute their products . In the year 1971. X's opened a second manufacturing
company at Naini, Allahabad, in the State of Uttar Pradesh. Today X's group has
three factories at Calcutta and one at Allahabad.ID X

According to a legend mentioned in Aitareya Brahamana, X had 100 wives, but no
son. On advice of the sage Narada, he prayed to the deity Varuna for a son. Varuna
granted the boon, in exchange for an assurance that X would make a sacrifice to
Varuna in the future. As a result of this boon, a son named Rohita (or Rohitaswa) was
born to the X. After his birth, Varuna came to X and demanded that the child be
sacrificed to him. The king postponed the sacrifice multiple times citing various
reasons, but finally agreed to it when Rohita became an adult. Rohita refused to be
sacrificed and escaped to forest. An angry Varuna afflicted X with a stomach illness.
Rohita intermittently visited his father, but on advice of Indra, never agreed to the
sacrifice. Later, Rohita managed to substitute himself with Sunahshepa in the human
sacrifice. Sunahshepa prayed to the Rigvedic deities, and was saved from the
sacrifice. X's illness was also cured because of Sunahshepa's prayers; Sunahshepa
was adopted by the sage Vishvamitra.
A similar story is narrated in the Ramayana, but the X's name
is Ambarisha instead of X..
