Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania consisting of three volcanic cones, with its highest summit reaching 5,895 metres above sea level, making it the highest mountain in Africa. Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller were the first people known to reach the summit in 1889. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and is a popular climbing destination that has been studied for its shrinking glaciers and disappearing ice fields.
