The appointment system was the vision of Dr Deepak Agrawal and supported by Prof MC Misra, director AIIMS. NIC helped in developing the software and implementation was done by AIIMS Team (Tripta Sharma) and NIS (Nusring informatics specialists) led by Ms Metilda Robin

- 7. NEED FOR AN APPOINTMENT SYSTEM • Patient does not have to stand in multiple queues • Can take a date convenient to him/her • Details of the doctor/ room/ location are available to him in advance

- 9. WISHLIST • Common appointment system across AIIMS • Should take into account the local policies of various departments • Highly configurable • Allow Auto-doctor select • Allow PA’ s to give appointment to specific doctors

- 18. FUTURE DIRECTIONS • Integration with Queue management system • Customised instructions to patient based on OPD/Clinic selected • SMS/ Email integration
- 19. ACHIEVEMENTS • We have succeeded in cutting the crowd outside the RAK OPD by half. • About 50 per cent of the total patients seen by a department are already through prior appointments.
