  • #27 Joe Frandoni serves with many of you on the County Executive’s Working Group for Hospitality, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation. Through this work, Joe and AHCMC have been able to collaborate with other members of the community to advocate for equity of opportunity and burden to create Parity between sectors and hope that arts and humanities organizations and practioners are given the same opportunities to safely open as other industries AHCMC Serves on the County Executive’s Hospitality, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation Working Group The AHCMC Board sent an advocacy letter to the County Executive requesting equitable treatment for the arts and humanities through inclusive reopening guidelines applied across our entire local economy MCA and MSAC – Increased Federal Funding Be as ready as you can be to reopen
  • #29 In 1995 the law creating the Public Arts Trust was adopted to replace the County’s percent-for-art program which had been repealed in the early 1990s. That new law- Chapter 8 of the Montgomery County Code , Article 6, Works in Public Architecture - directs the County Council to consider appropriating 0.05% of the County’s annual capital budget for public art each year. The county eleted to do so through the establishment of the Public Arts Trust. The Trust, a collaboration between the Arts and Humanities Council and the County Department of Recreation is administered by AHCMC  and guided by a Steering Committee comprised of members of DGS, DOT, Recreation, HUD, MNCPPC, MNCPPC-Parks and chaired by a member of the AHCMC Board. Public Arts Trust Steering (PATSC) Chair Elanor Choi, BELL Architects. The PATSC advocates for community awareness of public art and its significance to placemaking and community identity, and engages with a variety of partners and collaborators that include the visual arts community, non profit arts organizations, other county agencies and private partnerships. Over  the past 30 years AHCMC has  grown the collection that now consists of over 900 works in various media
