Social Business: Odyssey of the Third Millennium
Can social objectives be achieved more efficiently and effectively by adopting a social business format that is sustainable?
The vision of Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner, is that many global problems we face today can be solved through the creation of Social Business. This is a form of business that is mainly driven by a cause, rather than by traditional business school objectives such as profit maximization with minimal investment and cost reduction. The social business concept goes far beyond accomplishing personal or investor goals. It is focused on the human being and seeks to achieve one or more social objectives through a company.

Project Potential - Mission One Lakh FellowshipZubin Sharma
Our vision is to develop ONE LAKH Village Visionary social leaders across rural India. We do it via a one year fellowship that consists of study, action, and reflection. After the one year fellowship, Visionaries go on to do transformative education, health, and livelihoods work.
Rural entrepreneurship can be defined as the activity taken up by the
individuals in the countryside that either supports manufacturing products or provides services or adoption of new technologies for an economic benefit. It brings value addition to rural resources engaging largely human resources of rural areas. Rural Entrepreneurship is synonymous with rural industrialization. The development and growth of it help in generating self-employment, spreading industrial and economic activities and utilizing local labour as well as locally available raw materials..
Concept of Rural Entrepreneurship The concept of rural entrepreneurship, in simple terms, implies the
categorization of all rural-inclined entrepreneurship with a focus on small business ventures, such as carpentry, tourism and other artisans (Ngugi et al., 2013; Osunde, 2016; Alabi et al., 2017). Rural entrepreneurship refers to establishing industrial and business units in rural areas. It is entrepreneurship emerging in rural areas. Rural entrepreneurs are those who carry out entrepreneurial activities in rural areas...
Why Rural Entrepreneurship In rural India, unlike the urban India, with cyclic and disguised
unemployment, it suffers with chronic underemployment. Due to distressedmigration of rural people to mega cities, the villages remain deserted and village resources are remaining unexplored. Besides, lack of infrastructure, market and financial access further aggravate rural livelihoods. The livelihood of trained village artisans stands at stake due to unorganized structure and lack of market. Apart from this, the purchasing power of rural people is crippling down and that of urban areas is bursting due to overcrowding. The traditionalist ways of rural industries somehow contribute meager to the productivity levels in rural India, so neither the new technological support nor the IT revolution has made any significant alterations in the pace of rural growth. The above-mentioned causes are underlying as a necessity to promote rural entrepreneurship so that the chronic underemployment and out-migration issues of rural areas are tackled on priority basis (Ghosh and Das, 2021)
Personal and Professional Development in the Ophthalmic Dignity in Care Camp...Tracy Culkin
Tracy Culkin is the Dignity Champion for the Ophthalmology Department at Countess of Chester Health Park. She is proposing a Dignity and Nutrition Action Plan to address issues identified in the Dignity in Care Campaign. This will include highlighting nutritional needs of patients, encouraging staff to participate in nutrition training, and surveying patients about the department's nutrition and hydration facilities. She conducted surveys of patients in the Eye Clinic, Ward 55, and AMD Unit. The results showed some patients feel nutrition needs could be improved, such as providing more food/drink options in clinics and offering more substantial foods to patients after procedures.
The presentation gives a broad overview of the role of micro-credentials in improving the responsiveness of education to change, and of enabling personal learning pathways, especially in times of crisis.
It also takes a look at important areas of development to enable interoperability of credentials in Europe, as well as barriers to implementation.

It notes that the global population is aging rapidly, with over 1.3 billion people expected to be over age 60 by 2030, over 60% of whom will live in developing countries. As lifespans increase and fertility declines, population pyramids are changing shape in many countries. This aging trend requires immediate policy responses regarding social support, economic participation, and financial services for older populations. The document examines challenges and opportunities around pensions, savings, employment, family support networks, and barriers older adults face in accessing financial services. It provides a case study on Colombia to illustrate many of these issues and how older populations currently interact with the financial system.
The document summarizes the launch of Lebanon's Smart Agri-Food Innovation Hub. It discusses the global challenges around food security and turning those challenges into opportunities. The hub aims to support university graduates, agri-food professionals and SMEs through these programs.
Mahmoud Mohieldin, Senior Vice President of the World Bank Group, discussed key global trends and challenges including fragility and violence, shifts in the global economy, climate change, urbanization, and technological disruption. He emphasized the need to pursue economic diversification, sustainable health and welfare systems, private sector involvement in infrastructure, protecting the vulnerable, and new sources of growth.
