2. MARCO IMPERADORI
Short BIO:
Full Professor of Building Design and Innovation at Politecnico di Milano, Marco focuses his interest in
Sustainability as a contemporary result of the fusion between Art and Science. As a designer his
projects have been awarded several times and published in many international magazines; he has
published worldwide and he teaches as visiting professor or lecturer in many Universities and
Institutions around the world. He’s very ”active” therefore Active House Alliance is a natural
environment to be involved in and enjoy exchanges and mutual growth:
People First and Planet First...together!
The core of his interest in research about sustainability is Dry Lightweight Structure/Envelope
Technologies. Active House vision applied to these concepts have been proved successfully in
Mediterranean Climate too, where beautiful sunlight and the possibility to use natural ventilation in
many months of the year show that we should go beyond Passive...towards Active House concepts.
Inter-Active buildings and sensitive responding buildings are the next step and the actual research
frontier.

12. Wireless Sensors Network Monitoring System
The data acquirer of the wireless sensors network (WSN) are realized by TelosB appliances with data-logger designed to have the required reading
errors (<0,1 °C in temperature reading) using PT1000 sensors.
TelosB equipment allow the data acquistion, processing and trasmitting. They are powered by four AA battery (their life-time is in testing). The used
software was developed by D.E.I. Department of Politecnico di Milano.
The temperature sensors installed are:
-14 Surface temperature sensors PT 1000 A class with platinum sensible element for the monitoring of the building envelope
- 6 Surface temperature sensors PT 1000 A class with platinum sensible element and 2 electric meters for
the monitoring of the mechanical system
- 7 Micro Data-logger wireless TelosB

There’s a necessity to move
And to choose a particular direction
Therefore a double necessity:
to move and to find the right direction
