1. ACADEMICS
Past academic work, I wouldn’t say was always easy for me. I have always took on
challenges in life, and have always succeeded at them. Through high school and college I took
on many challenges but only two stand out the most to me. I would have to say the two main
ones that stood out to me were the health classes I took throughout high school, and the Human
Services program I have become a part of at University of South Carolina Beaufort.
The health science classes I took, were taken at Battery Creek High School. The classes
challenged me in many ways. There were some weeks when I didn’t think that being in a health
field would ever be my “thing”, but I always overcame that feeling. Being in this class you had
to learn not only simple vital signs, but you had to apply that, and use it daily.
At University of South Carolina Beaufort I have decided to join the Palmetto College
program, and major in Human Services. This was definitely a challenging decision because I had
to decide on a career to do for the rest of my life. Choosing this has changed my life completely.
Before I didn’t have a life plan, but after taking some human services classes, I have officially
found what I want to do for the rest of my life.
All in all, I would have to say that in life there will be challenges, but you just have to
have the determination to overcome them. I am so thankful for the opportunities I was given
throughout high school and college when it came to my academics.
