Dear colleagues,
It is now time for the 10th version of our Academic Sessions, all through these
years we have explored different topics and problematics regarding our teaching
jobs and have had the possibility to learn from each other in a scenario of
solidarity and camaraderie. For this year, we thought then about discussing
ourselves and the way we build our identities.
This is an event addressed for English teaching students in the region,
practitioners and researchers and our main purpose is to contribute to the
education of the new generation of teachers in a way they can help with the
transformation of society.
We are pleased to invite you to participate as a speaker in our X Academic
Sessions “Teacher identities” to be held on November 9th in our institution. For our
research group Educación, infancia y lenguas extranjeras and for our institution, it
would be an honor to have you as our guest, sharing with teaching students your
insights and experiences on how teachers’ identities are built and modified all
along the teaching life.
The event is going to be divided into different methodologies:
 Plenary sessions
 Concurrent sessions according to the topics proposed: Parallel one hour talks
on reflection or experiences.
 Panel discussion
 Workshop
We would like to invite you to participate with a presentation or workshop in the
concurrent sessions on one of the following topics:
 Teacher identity shaped by context factors.
 New roles for language teachers in today’s society.
 Teacher role as peace maker and cultural reference.
 Studies about teacher identity and teacher emotion.
 Teacher narratives.
If you want to join us, please confirm your participation and send the proposal in
the attached format to gloria.arboledago@amigo.edu.co by October 18th, so that
we can read them and establish a schedule. Proposals sent in a different format
will not be considered.
Proposals for the presentation are expected to be written in English only in the
format attached to this invitation and should include:
• A title of maximum 10 words.
• A 100 word abstract for the event brochure and a more detailed summary of
the proposal of around 500 words that allows our Academic Committee to know in
depth the nature of the reflection or research and its relationship with the event´s
topics.
• A biographic note of maximum 50 words by author.
Proposals sent in a different format will be returned to the authors for its
adjustment, given that we are still in the time frame for this stage.
We welcome your ideas and proposals to grow together and shape identities.
