In this research project, the author aims to develop a framework for analyzing contemporary theatre plays dealing with issues of memory through a meta-level lens. The author claims that a theatre of meta-memory often occurs within a meta-theatre, where reflection on the role of memory coincides with reflection on theatre itself. To prove this, the author will perform in-depth performative analysis of three Dutch plays - Als ik de liefde niet heb, How to play Francesca Woodman, and Kamp - concerned with notions like presence, body, media use, and the spectator's role. Ultimately, the author hopes to demonstrate the importance and potential of theatre as a space for both remembering and producing new memory and meaning
