About my family & the dream

Craig and I first met when I was about 12 years

3. old. We lost contact for a few years, and met
up again. We have been together now for
almost 5 years. We have two girls, an 8 year old
and a 17 year old. We have always dreamed of
owning our own business. We talked about
a vitamin store, and then the economy
went really bad for a while. We came to
learn about the Flip Flop Shops franchise through
an e-mail from Franchise.com. It caught our
full attention. We have been working night and
day for approximately 6 months now to make our
dream come to light. We have filed for grants, and
even went as far as putting out a cup for donations
at my job. When taking the huge leap of faith
to travel to Vancouver, I lost my job of 4 1l/2 years.
Which has since made times really hard, as jobs
in this area are very slow at this time, but We have
never given up, nor have we ever had one doubt that
this is what we want to do, we have faith that
it will happen. Clearwater is where we have
always wanted to live. It has become such an
exciting dream for our whole family. Our girls

4. love the ocean and the warm weather and are
like fish in the water.
Craig and I were scheduled for what the franchise
calls "shop day" (you meet the president of the
franchise, then he decides if you are a good fit
for their franchise) in Irvine, CA. A few weeks
prior to the day it was scheduled for, Brian Curin,
The president of the franchise, had to have a
quadruple bypass. Therefore, he requested us to
travel to Vancouver to meet with him, since he
wouldn't be able to travel for a couple of months.
So, we preceded to obtain our expedited
passports and flew to Vancouver. Very beautiful country.
We met with Brian and he gave us his approval
to buy into the franchise. We have been working
with DCV (Direct Connect Ventures) to obtain the
SBA Loan, and have approval for the $250,000
loan for the store. We are also working with The
Finance Store, to obtain the liquid capital to put in
the bank, once we pay down a credit card balance,
we are eligible for about $60,000 to $65,000. If we
do nothing with the credit card we are eligible

5. for $40,000.
Which still leaves us about $40-$60,000 short of
the required $100,000 liquid capital we need.
This is where we are asking for help. We do
not want to watch our dream pass by us and
forever regret not being able to make it happen.
Once the loan is completely processed and the
store opens (approx. 6 months to a year) we
would be able to pay back the loan help.
Any amount of assistance or advice would be
extremely helpful and so very appreciated.
We both have many years, 15+ to be more
precise, experience in the retail and customer
service industry. We both are very hard workers,
very passionate about anything we do, and show
very strong attention to detail. This is an
amazing opportunity for us and I can not and
will not let it pass us by. All of these people we
are working with are so wonderful, the kind of
people you want to hang out with, work with,
people that appreciate you and your hard work.
We want to get away from the factories and the

6. warehouses that only pay you what they feel you
are worth to them. We want an adventure, a
place where we are in control of how much
money we make, where can blame no one, but
ourselves for what we bring home.
A lot of prayers have been prayed, a lot
of hours have been spent, but we know that
some day very very soon, it will all be worth
all of the sweat and tears.
