house expertise and finance required to originate, develop and operate such
investments throughout their development and operational lifetime.
To-date, Sindicatum has raised and committed c. USD 300 million of capital,
c. USD 105 million of which in the form of shareholders equity and the
balance via a captive co-investment fund in which SCC has contributed 20%
of the capital.
Sindicatum Carbon Capital is primarily focused on three core sectors:
• Coal Mine Methane,
• Landfill Gas-to-Energy and
• Agricultural Solutions, which in the near-term are expected to represent
approximately 75% of SCCʼs total project portfolio by capital employed.
Sindicatum believes that these sectors offer the best potential for producing
a combination of relatively low-risk, predictable revenue streams from
commodities such as clean energy (often secured via long-term contracts)
and substantial upside potential through exposure to the global markets for
environmental commodities. Concurrently SCC has adopted an opportunistic
approach to other related sectors, and intend to continue to invest in areas
such as energy efficiency and waste-to-energy. We expect that up to 25% of
the capital employed will be in GHG abatement projects outside the three core
sectors.
Sindicatum Carbon Capital utilises a dual approach of seeking capital
protection via “utility” type revenues from clean energy business activities,
while positioning its asset base to provide exposure and optionality across a
range of possible scenarios for the development of global and local
environmental commodities markets.
