I have chosen two film openings to analyse, one that's in a thriller genre and another that's in a romantic genre to help show the difference in the two genres and how they are represented at the start.
Somebodyelse deconstruction
The music video tells a narrative story through the main singer's experiences after a breakup. It begins with him alone in a room wearing clown makeup, representing his attempt to disguise his true feelings. Throughout the video, he visits different locations like a restaurant and bar, seeing his ex-girlfriends moving on, making him nostalgic. Through editing techniques like a shot reverse shot, it's revealed the singer has been replacing his ex in the scenes, implying he is the cause of his own unhappiness. The video uses lighting, location, and the singer's interactions with mirrors to portray his emotional journey from avoiding facing his feelings to accepting reality and himself.

The lovely bones

Truth …Hence, the video would start off with a slow motion shot of a glass of water being thrown across a room, then smashing across the floor, the mise- en-scene would include a white wall background with a sombre picture frame. Throughout the film, a blue filter would be used for all present day shots. After the first few frames, we then seeing a couple arguing, with flash backs to times for example in the first 3 months of their relationship using a sepia filter for added effect.
- 4. Truth Non-verbal language could be used to link the past to the present such as when one of the couple throws an arm out to the side, suggesting they are directing the others attention to a moment in their past, which is then seen by the audience. Additionally, every so often, images of the glass still shattering would be used to emphasise the continuous argument. Also, shots of the band would be included in a set deign room, the same background scene in the couples argument but it is clear that this is a set. Eventually the glass/water stops moving when they decide to got there separate ways at which point the song finishes.
