This document discusses teaching human behavior in the social environment (HBSE) from the perspective of two different classes. The 1pm class consisted of traditional full-time MSW students in a second floor classroom, while the 6pm class had evening/weekend part-time MSW students in a first floor classroom. The instructor reflects that timing and environment impacted concentration levels, it was difficult when the material was not their own creation, and time management could only go so far. The takeaways are that instructors can only control so much, and they should be honest, prioritize, take good notes, listen to student voices, and recognize that energy is contagious.
