*My research question was what are the risks of
childhood obesity and why is it important for parents
to take a stand to prevent it.
* Childhood obesity rates have been growing over the
years. As fast food becomes more easily available,
technology takes the place of physical exercise, and
our lives become more hustled our physical well-being
takes a toll and it is becoming evident through
childhood obesity. Childhood obesity if not treated can
lead to many health problems later in life.
*Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic in America
and parents need to take action through lifestyle
habits and preventative measures.
*
*Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic.
According to the CDC, obesity rates for
children since 1980 have almost tripled.
*“Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of
children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are
obese” (CDC).
*
*Childhood obesity can lead to other health
issues.
*According to Georgina Robinson, childhood
obesity can have negative health effects on the
different systems in your body, such as in the:
cardiovascular, endocrine, GI, musculoskeletal,
nervous, and respiratory systems.
* It can also lead to other diseases such as
diabetes.
*
*There are ways to prevent childhood obesity
and ways to treat it. There are also several
programs and initiatives just for ending
childhood obesity.
*These programs and initiatives offer many
valuable resources and ideas for treating and
preventing childhood obesity.
*
* Let’s Move! initiative was started and is
promoted by Michelle Obama to end childhood
obesity.

*
*The Fitness to inspire Unity Strength and
Excellence (FUSE) camp that is sponsored by
the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to promote
healthy lifestyles.
*
*Childhood obesity is a serious condition that is
growing in America.
*Childhood obesity can lead to other serious
health effects and needs to be treated and
prevented.
*There are lots of resources and programs with
valuable information for treating and
preventing childhood obesity.
