This document discusses using internet-based collaboration tools to share situational awareness data with civilian partners during disaster response. It proposes caching DoD data within the internet and using common web tools instead of requiring partners to access proprietary DoD networks. Examples of potential tools include Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google apps for communication, collaboration and sharing maps, documents and photos. Integrating civilian and military data through open standards in web services allows sharing relevant situational information broadly during disaster support operations when the DoD is not the lead agency.
