Facebook can be an online environment that supports and enhances learning of the English language for students in higher education. A study investigated students' use of Facebook and whether they saw it as facilitating English language learning. Students reported that Facebook improved their language skills through informal exposure and practice, increased their confidence in using English, and motivated them to communicate in English more. However, Facebook was not seen as a formal replacement for classroom learning.
