The document summarizes a study that evaluated the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets bonded to porcelain using either hydrofluoric acid or Er:YAG laser etching. Samples of feldspatic porcelain discs were etched using one of four methods: 9.6% hydrofluoric acid, or Er:YAG laser at different settings. One sample from each group was examined under an electron microscope to evaluate the etching pattern. All samples were then treated with a silane coupling agent and bonded with composite resin. The samples underwent thermocycling and shear bond strength was measured using a DARTEC testing machine.

7. Surface of the samples was covered completely
by Sailane (Sailane Bond Enhancer PULPDENT,
Watertown, Massachusetts, USA)

Samples were thermocycled at 500 cycles between 5
and 55ْc
