- Good evening class, The first tool I will explain is the SMARTBOARD. The SMARTBOARD is an electronic chalkboard or whiteboard system that is used for lessons plans, presentations, movies , slideshows and more. You can have easy access to other programs like powerpoint, microsoft word, adobe reader and you can hook up your smart phone or iPAD to it. Students can touch, type or write with a pen. More than one student can use it at a time. It has built in resources like the SMART Response Question sets that make SMARTBOARD a wonderful teaching tool.
- Digital story telling keeps the interest of the students because it is bright, colorful and easy to see. Children can also utilize writing skills and creativity by creating their own stories. Students can use their imagination and have f
- Google Earth may not be something you would consider as a teaching tool, but now they have added facts about the various locations in the world and the child can navigate around the location they choose. They can also study the types of terrain and there is a fun quiz the children can learn from.
- Wii games have many educational tools such as Reader Rabbit, Elmo’s A to Z and Smarty Pants for Trivia questions. These programs are specially helpful for pre schoolers and kindergarten. The children can interact with teachers and students to develop social skills and build hand eye coordination. These programs can show children learning can be fun through play.
- Discovery Education is another wonderful teaching tool that consists of digital textbooks for science,math, english, social studies health and technology The student can visit virtual worlds, development workshops for the teachers and lesson plans. It has student assessment to track progress. Discovery Education very useful in the classroom, and this system has won educational awards. One of virtual worlds I visited talked about the life of a fish and how it has adapted and competition among other fish and sea life. The fringehead fish escapes the deadly grip of the octopus. Other tools I would use, inotes or ipad for taking notes. For this presentation I used slide share, A new experience for myself.
