The Thermo-Rec system was created 20 years ago to address the problem of discarded tires in Scandinavia. Its inventor, Alf Johannson, worked nights and weekends over many years with the support of Chalmers University and local engineering companies to develop and patent the invention. After testing and endorsement by government and industry, Alf Johannson's wife and the marketing manager launched the system in his memory following his passing three years ago.

1. THE THERMO-REC® OPERATION
The original motivation for the creation of Thermo-Rec some 20 years ago, was the
mountains of tyres that were a problem in Scandinavia.
A prominent shipbuilder, engineer, the late Mr. Alf Johannson, took some time to
accept the challenge since his involvement with ship repairs and with the VOLVO
organisation nearby , took up much of his time.
The daunting challenge almost turned Mr. Johannson into a hermit working by day
for VOLVO and other projects, and by night ,on the need for a tyre “convertor”.
His work over the years required some technical advice and he was supported by
the CHALMERS UNIVERSITY as well as some local engineering companies near
Gothenburg. With their continued support he was able to patent his invention and
make it available only a few years ago.
The Chalmers University is the foremost university of technology in Scandinavia and
Europe with many promising students applying for entry.
The engineering companies that supported Mr. Johannson are prominent
international shipbuilders using the latest technology to the benefit of their clients.
The final invention , which he called THERMO REC, was tested and is endorsed by the
Swedish Deparment of Energy and Enviroment, Mr. Emiliano Lubian, as well as ABB
international and Siemens.
Alf Johannson passed away 3 years ago and in the final settlement of his estate , lost
his plant in Gothenburg, but fortunately not his patent, which was passed on to his
wife. Together with Mr.Krister Jannson the Marketing manager, they launched the
system as a dedication to his memory.
