Feminism in Brave
● Merida is the very definition of feminism. Merida wants
to be an archer and she is excellent at that. But then her
mom wants her to marry a princess. Through a bonding
experience both come to terms and accept each other
and what they want. It is a relationship between a
mother and daughter. The very defining of the fourth
wave. Women having relationships with other women
are more important than having a relationship with a
man. In the end both mother and daughter understand
each other and agree that brave can take care of herself
and that she is a strong, independent woman. Not a
reliant helpless princess or a damsel in distress like
many of the disney movies before.
