with prior to the disability movement. While reading this article I questioned how individuals abusing
the disabled got away with doing so for so long. Yet, while further reading through the article I
realized that this abuse may have resulted in lack of education on disabled individuals and possible
fear of the disabled. The article spoke about how the disability movement did not really start until after
Dr. Samuel Gridley started a school for idiotic children (Pfeiffer D. 1993). This was a start to helping
disabled more, but a very small start at that. Soon after the school was shut down for dehumanizing

Percy is offered a job at Briar Ridge psychiatric hospital and Paul and the other guards think they are
finally rid of him, however, Percy refuses to leave until he supervises an execution. Paul hesitantly
