This document announces two applications to the International Trade Administration Commission regarding customs tariffs. The first application is from Kaymac (Pty) Ltd requesting an increase in the general customs duty rate on textile fabric inter-layered with bentonite clay from free of duty to 25% ad valorem. The reasons given are to protect investments, jobs, and the local industry. The second application is from Bagshaw Footwear requesting a rebate of the full duty on leather prepared from buffalo animals for use in manufacturing safety footwear. The applicant states that the product and raw material are not locally produced and the import duty makes them uncompetitive against imports.
