The Pilgrims came to the New World in 1620 to freely practice their religion. They landed on Plymouth Rock and received help from the Wampanoag Native American tribe, including Squanto who taught them how to grow corn, beans, and squash. In 1621, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag celebrated the English harvest festival together with a feast that has become known as the first Thanksgiving.
