1.4.1. Working as a ‘dry assistant’ to the forensic medical practitioners in relation to their
medico-legal autopsies, including:
1.4.1.1. assisting with the preparation of scribe notes and Notice of Death forms (BI
1663) for the forensic medical practitioners;
1.4.1.2. taking photos of injuries on bodies;
1.4.1.3. scribing (taking notes) for the forensic medical practitioners during their
performance of medicolegal post mortem examinations;
1.4.1.4. receiving, packaging and sealing of forensic evidence and samples collected
by the forensic medical practitioners (e.g. bullets, ligatures, blood etc);
1.4.1.5. photocopying of scribe notes and other relevant records;
1.4.1.6. typing of autopsy reports.
1.4.2. Working as a ‘wet assistant’ to the forensic medical practitioners in relation to their
medico-legal autopsies, including:
1.4.2.1. taking fingerprints of the bodies for identification purposes;
1.4.2.2. assisting with eviscerations of bodies for forensic purposes;
1.4.2.3. assisting with the collections of biological samples for forensic evidentiary
purposes.
1.4.3. Working shift duties to collect decedents from scenes of death.
1.4.4. Assisting with the logistics operations in relation to the daily activities at the
Mortuary.
1.4.5. Assisting with identification process of bodies to families.
1.4.6. Handing out autopsy reports and exhibits to the SAPS investigating officers
ensuring that the correct reports are handed out and that the I/O’s sign receipts for
them;
1.5. It must also be noted that Mr Westraadt has a National Diploma Police Management
(TRSA), that he is computer literate and has completed and/or participated in numerous
Ancillary Courses and Workshops, including but not limited to:
Human Rights and Policing Course, Statement Taking Course, S.W.A.T. Courses, Border
Course, Riot Course, Basic Computer Course, Crime Prevention Course, Advanced driving
Course, Basic Skid Control Off-Road Course, Street Survival Courses, Combat Shooting
Course, New Children’s Act and Procedure for safe keeping Workshop, Bereavement
Counselling Course, Stress Management Course, Bereavement Management Workshop,
