All notes are the same size and colour (green). Canada The Canadian currency is the Canadian dollar. Coins come as 5c (nickel), 10c (dime), 25c (quarter), $1 (loonie) and $2 (toonie). There are notes of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. Tipping It is customary to tip in both America and Canada. You are required to tip restaurant staff approximately 15-20% in America and 10-15% in Canada. Additionally, tips are necessary for hotel staff, bartenders, taxi drivers, tour escourts and door attendants. Passports, visas and insurance It is mandatory for all Australian travellers to obtain an electronic visa authorisation no less than 72 hours before travel to America and Canada. It is very important to obtain your visa and make payments through official government websites. This requirement applies to passengers flying to the United States and Canada either as a destination stop-over or as a via/transit point. We strongly recommend that you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy when you book your holiday. Included insurance • Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) In most states of USA and most Canadian provinces, in the event of any loss or damage to the car, regardless of fault, the customer’s financial responsibility extends to the full value of the car at the time of rental, less its salvage value, plus expenses for towing, storage and impound fees, and an administrative charge and a reasonable charge for loss of use. In the USA if the customer’s responsibility differs in the state in which the customer rents, it will be stated in the Rental Agreement. When a LDW is purchased, which is not insurance, the renter will not be held responsible for damages to the car in the event that any damage should occur, provided the damage was not the result of a prohibited use of the vehicle. • Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS)* (USA Only) LIS provides coverage for drivers and authorised operators of the rental vehicle for third party claims. It is primary protection to the customers’ personal policy, and provides the first US$1,000,000* of combined bodily injury and/or property damage claims for each occurrence. LIS includes Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Coverage, up to US$100,000** per occurrence*** for combined bodily injury and/or property damage claims. Conditions of Hire Driver Qualifications • All drivers must have a valid national driving licence that qualifies him/her to operate a motorcycle in the country of origin. • The minimum rental age is 21 years.
