Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

4. An example of transcendence
• Babies learn how to talk when they are
approx. 2 years old.
• They achieve this transcendence by
developing a sense of self.
• In fact the sense of self develops at the
approx. same time as speech.
5. Kişilik taşıyan unsurlar yaratmak
• Developing identity, a self helps to overcome the
transcendence of the other.
• This can be seen also in the music composition
process.
• The more you identify individual items and
consider them belonging to the new piece, it
becomes easier to compose. The more the piece
gets personality, the possibilities gets less and the
piece dictates itself written. The composition
process becomes automatical.
6. İnsan Üzerine Deyişler
Ahmed Adnan SAYGUN
• 1988-89 Mesut İKTU MSÜ auditoryumunda.
• Aklımda kalan : ölüm teması
• anlayamamıştım
7. İnsanın durumu
• Büyüdüğüm ev Koşuyolunda bir çıkmaz sokak.
Bütün herkes komşu.
• Babamı 1989’da kaybettik. O zamandan beri
tek tek bütün komşular öldü. Annem hala sağ.
• Ama düşünün yaşlandıkça çevrenizdeki dostlar
giderek kayboluyor.
8. İdam mahkumunun durumu
• Beni öldürebilirsiniz.
• Elimdeki avucumdaki herşeyi benden
alabilirsiniz.
• Ama bir şeyi benden alamazsınız.
• Benim size ve bana yapacaklarınıza karşı
tutumum, duruşum. Bunu ben belirlerim.
9. Anlayamadığım şey
• Bence müzik insanın duruşuna bir nebze olsa
da bir katkı yapabilir.
• 1989’da anlayamadığım şey de bu. Adnan
Bey’in eserinin katkısı.
16. Music transcends the composer
• Design can help
• Eğer çok tasarlarsanız kendi kendinizi, hayal
alanınızı ve ilhamınızı sınırlarsınız.
17.

(Akurgal,
Ancient Civilization and Ruins of Turkey, s. 227).
21. Turkish Requiem çalışması
• Didim tapınağı – Branchid rahipleri
• Uzay istasyonu
• Turkish Requiem için eser örneği tarama
çalışması sırasında Bach CANTATA’larla
karşılaştım.
22. BACH CANTATA
• 15 dak. Civarında
• Genelde 6 bölüm
• Chant ve recitatif değişerek
• İlk ve son bölüm korolu
23. • Seçmiş olduğum 14 bölümü 6’ya indirdim.
• Ama neye göre?
• 14 şiiri okuyarak Schenker gibi bir bas line
bulmaya çalıştım.
24. Schenker üzerine
• Bence Schenker’in temel kavramları yalnız
tonal müziğe değil soyut olarak her tür müziğe
uygulanabilir.
• Esere farklı üç soyutlama seviyesinde tabaka
tabaka bakmak
• Bu seviyeler arasındaki etkileşimler vb.
25. Budama - Pruning
• 14 rubaiden 6 taneye inmek için belirlediğim
en üst soyutlama seviyesi:
• Eğlenceli bir giriş
• Giderek anlatımı güçlenen: herşey birdir ve
tanrının yansımasıdır düşüncesi.
• Halleluiah türü bir final..
26. RUMI CANTATA lyrics in English and
Turkish
• 1
• Bir can vardır: Düşünce güç sağlar ona,
• Bir başka can ormandaki bir arslana.
• Dikkat et! Bir baltaya benzer düşünü;
• Çok fazla düşünme: vurmasın balta sana.
• 2
• And içtim: Çıkmadıkça kalbimden can,
• Şaşmam tek yönden çıkmam düz yoldan.
• Derken sağa baktım, sola baktım: Hep o var.
• Hep sevgili çıktı... çekti sağdan soldan.
27. • 3
• Gönlümdeki iç ve dış O'dur, bende can O.
• Gövdem, damarım, ruhum, O'dur. Bende kan O.
• Tek Tanrı'ya, çok Tanrı'ya tapmak bir mi?
• Bak, benzeri yok varlığımın: Var olan O.
• 4
• Peyda olurum, saklanırım, işte buyum;
• Müslüman, Hiristiyan, Musevi olurum.
• Kalbim yerleşsin diye her bir yüreğe,
• Ben kendime hergün yeni bir yüz bulurum.
28. • 5
• Ey dost, sana candan yakınız aşk duyarak;
• Sen nerde yürürsen orda olduk toprak,
• Aşk mezhebinin cilvesi: Görmek sende
• Tüm evreni - ancak sana hep kör kalmak.
• 6
• Dünyada ve ahrette O var, bir tek O var;
• Tek taptığımız O. Sahte tüm varlıklar:
• Gökler de yalan, güneş de; bağ bahçe yalan.
• Her sözde, her anlamda O tek gerçek, O var.
29. Forword
• RUMI stresses the unity of beings, emphasizes
that they come from the same 'creator' and
states that they are the reflections of God the
creator. This provides a mind-set of seeing the
common points in conflicts rather than
magnifying the differences.
30. Additional Material
• Forword
• Introduction
• Short Analysis and The Lyrics
• Sketches
• Short Article (The Role of Belief in Cognition)
• About the Author
38. Başlama noktasının önemi
• Bir eserin bitirilme şansı başlama noktasına
bağlıdır.
• Bir eser birden fazla noktadan başlayarak
bitirilebilir.
• Bazı eserler yalnız bir başlangıç noktasına
sahip olabilir.
• Farklı başlangıç noktaları aynı esere
yakınsamayabilir.
51. Bilinçli Muhakeme
• İcracılar, karakter, kullanılacak ses dizisi, süre,
tempo, ölçü sayısı cinsinden uzunluk büyük
oranda düşünsel olarak en üst soyutlama
seviyesindeki ana düşünceyi güçlendirecek
şekilde bilinçli muhakeme ile belirlenir.
52. Executive control over unconscious cognition: attentional
sensitization of unconscious information processing
• Front Hum Neurosci. 2012; 6: 61.
• Markus Kiefer*
• Department of Psychiatry, University of Ulm, Ulm, Germany
• Abstract
• Unconscious priming is a prototypical example of an
automatic process, which is initiated without deliberate
intention.
• executive control factors such as attention, intentions, and
task sets orchestrate the unconscious processing streams
toward greater optimization of task performance.
53. Score
• Yalnız NİYET belirlemek yeterli olmayabilir.
• Belirli bir hedefe giderken yaptığınız şeylerin
yan etkileri ya da eserin kendi kendine
bütünleşme etkisi ilham şeklinde belirebilir.
