ANIMAL EXHIBITOR CODEOF ETHICS
Exhibitorsof animalsatlivestock,poultry,andsmall animal showsshall atall timesconduct themselveswithhonesty
and goodsportsmanship.Theirconductinthiscompetitive environmentshall alwaysreflectthe higheststandardsof
honorand integritytopromote the advancementof agricultural education.Thiscode appliesto4-H as well asopenclass
exhibitorswhocompete instructuredclassesof competition.Thiscode appliestoall livestockofferedinanyeventatthe
Ozaukee CountyFair.
The followingisalistof guidelinesforall exhibitorsandall livestockincompetitive events:
To exhibitanimals,a4-H youthmustbe inat least3rd
grade duringthe most recentschool year.
ALL animal exhibitorsmustcomplywiththe AnimalHealthRegulationsforFairs andShowsinWisconsin.
Premise IDnumberswill be requiredforall animal entries(exceptrabbits). Premise IDs are availablethroughthis
linkor the WI Dept.of Agriculture website,AnimalsTab.
4-H youthexhibitorsare expectedtocare for andgroom their ownanimalswhile atthe Ozaukee County Fair.
Animalsshall be presentedtoshoweventswhere theywill enterthe foodchainfree of drugs.The act of enteringan
animal ina livestockshowisthe givingof consentbythe owners,exhibitor,forshow managementtoobtainany
specimensof urine,saliva,blood,orothersubstancesfromthe animal tobe usedintesting.
Anysurgical procedure orinjectionof anyforeignsubstance ordrugwhichcouldaffectthe animal’sperformanceor
alteritsnatural contour,confirmation,orappearance,isprohibited.Exceptionswill be made forexternal
applicationsof substances tothe hoofsorhornsof animalswhichaffectappearance onlyandforsurgical procedures
performedbya dulylicensedveterinarianforthe sole purpose of protectingthe healthof the animal.
All HealthandRegistrationpapersforanimalsmustbe presentedtothe superintendentbefore animalsare
unloaded.
All animalsmustpasshealthregulationsof the fair.
Control of Animals – Livestockexhibitorsmustbe able tobringanimalsintothe show ringto be handledandjudged
by the judge. Anyanimal notundercontrol will be removedfromthe fairgroundsatthe discretionof the FairBoard
and the Dept.Superintendent.
Exhibitorsare responsibleforkeepinganimal stalls/pensclean,andforcleaningupmanure fromtheiranimal any
time itis outof the barn.
All beddingmust be suppliedbythe exhibitor.
All feedmustbe suppliedandfedbythe exhibitor(exceptrabbitsandpoultry).
The onlyindividualsallowedinthe showringduringjudgingof all animalswillbe the exhibitorand individuals
wearinga badge withthe wording“LIVESTOCKOFFICIAL”.These officialswill be determinedbythe Dept.
Superintendent.Anyotherindividual inthe show ringduringjudging will resultindisciplinaryaction.
All dairyandmeat projectanimalsmustbe shownbythe 4-H memberwhoisexhibitingthe animal.
o In the eventasubstitute showpersonisneededforthe secondmarketanimal inaweightclassor foryouth
excusedforillnessorparticipatingina4-H award trip,the substitute mustbe a currentlyenrolledOzaukee
County4-H memberof comparable grade/age.
o The Dept.superintendentmustbe notifiedof anysubstitutesbefore judgingbegins.
o The Dept.superintendentshave authorizationforthe above listeddecisions.
o The LivestockAssociationactsinan advisorycapacitywhencalledonforthe beef,sheep,andswine
projects.

Premiumswillnotbe paidto anyone notenrolledasa4-H memberingoodstandingor to any memberwhofailedto
achieve atthe endof the clubyear (suchas meetingattendance, acompletedrecord book, andprojectexhibits).

OVERNIGHTPASSES
For security reasons,the Fair Board discourages4-Hers from staying overnight. Overnightstaysare nota sanctioned
4-H activityand the 4-H program doesnotprovide chaperones.
The Fair providesSecurityGuardstopatrol the groundsduringthe overnighthours. Therefore,youthoradultswhoplan
to stay onthe groundsbetween11:00 p.m.and 6:00 a.m. will needtoobtainanovernightpass.All 4-Hfairexhibitors,
evenif overthe age of 18, are consideredasyouthand will needtofollow the proceduresandrequi rementsforayouth
pass.
Overnightpassesforyouthwill be issuedonlytopeople exhibitinglivestockandneedingtostayat the fair.(Friendsor
otherswill notbe eligible forovernightpasses) Rulesconcerningchaperonesanddesignatedareaswill be enforced.
Adultsand/oryouthwishingtoobtainanovernightpassmustfill outthe authorizationformfromthe FairOffice.A
complete listingof the RulesandRegulationsare printedwiththe form.These formsmustbe turnedintothe Fair Office
no later than noon on Wednesday of the fair. Eligibilitycan thenbe verifiedwiththe 4-H Office,andname tags will be
printed.The name tagsmust be pickedupat the FairOffice before 8:00 p.m.onthe nightyouplanto stay.
