Recap of the global technology, policy, startup and lifestyle festival the Digital Freedom Festival (www.digitalfreedomfestival.com) masterclass “How to use Gamification mechanics for problem solving?” led by Founder of Egomonk, Ambassador at TED Sartaj Anand (IN).
This presentation describes how to use the new gamification service from IBM Bluemix. A leaderboard widget, a mission widget, and several content navigator actions are presented to demonstrate the service. But gamification is about more than simply dropping game widgets into tasks. A Game Plan is where rewards and missions are defined. This session also demonstrates using Bluemix to create one. It also discusses Motivational Design -- how to design the Game Plan to effectively trigger human participation, and Mechanism Design -- how to structure the Case and Game Plan to prevent participants from 'gaming' the system. Finally, we present evidence that adding game elements to tasks can improve outcomes.
