The document discusses the difference between happiness and joy. It notes that joy is a fruit of the spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-26. Unlike happiness, joy does not depend on circumstances but rests in God's sovereign control. The document explains that according to James 1:2-4, Christians can find joy even during trials by focusing on how trials produce perseverance and spiritual maturity.
The document discusses the importance of encouraging one another in faith. It provides three exhortations from Hebrews 10:22-25: 1) Let us draw near to God with confidence based on Christ's saving work; 2) Hold firmly to our hope in God; 3) Consider how to spur one another to love and good deeds and continue meeting together for encouragement. The overall message is that Christians should encourage each other in their faith, especially as the day of Christ's return approaches.
The document is a sermon about discerning and living according to God's will. It discusses how living in God's will often involves uncertainty, opposition, and disagreements. It advises praying about decisions, seeking facts and wise counsel, and committing plans to God while being open to adjustment. While open doors exist, the path may still involve obstacles. God's guidance is often clearest in hindsight. The sermon urges accepting and doing God's will to find peace.
Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus' disciples. The passage from Acts describes what happened on the first Pentecost - the disciples experienced the Holy Spirit as a violent wind and tongues of fire, and were then able to speak in other languages to proclaim the gospel. Peter explained that this fulfills the prophecy of Joel about God pouring out his Spirit on all people.
This document provides a schedule for cultural activities during a week-long celebration. It lists activities such as storytelling sessions, poetry workshops, concerts, and visits to the library and museum for students of various levels. Students will hear from writers and poets, learn about traditional festivals, and be exposed to tales from other countries. The goal is to engage students in language arts and share cultural elements through interactive experiences.
