Plastic bottles. Old clothes and tires. The all-new Escape builds upon its class-leading automatic highway
fuel efficiency by putting these and other materials all too often destined for landfills to surprisingly practical
reuse. About 25 recycled 20-oz. plastic bottles go into the carpeting on each vehicle, which is a resilient blend of
post-consumer and post-industrial polyester fibers. Over 10 lbs. of scrap cotton from jeans, sweaters, T-shirts and
the like are turned into sound-absorption material that helps keep Escape quiet inside. Recycled tires are used to
create the climate control gasket. The wheel arch liners and aero shields are made with recycled plastics. To top
it off, the vehicle itself is over 85% recyclable after it’s been driven its last mile – now that’s forward thinking.

10. Steers itself into parallel spots.
First, you press a button and listen for active park assist1 to alert you when
it has located an appropriate parallel parking spot. Then, you take your hands
off the wheel and your Escape literally steers itself into place. You simply
follow system prompts to shift gears and control the brake and accelerator
pedals. You’ll be parked and on with the day’s adventure in practically no
time at all. Class-exclusive active park assist is part of our comprehensive
Parking Technology Package,1 which also includes a class-exclusive Forward
Sensing System, a Reverse Sensing System, BLIS® with cross-traffic alert,
a rear view camera and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

As you slowly back out of a parking spot or driveway, BLIS ® (Blind Spot
Information System) with cross-traffic alert 1 is designed to scan for vehicles
approaching from either side. If any are detected, the system alerts you with
a sound, a message center warning and an amber light in the corresponding
sideview mirror.2 While you’re driving, BLIS uses the same amber lights to
alert you if traffic is detected in your blind spots. The rear view camera1 also
shows you what’s behind the vehicle whenever you shift into Reverse.

Do your weekends involve towing recreational gear? The 2013 Escape is ready for action. Our
240-hp 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine1 enables Escape to tow up to 3,500 lbs. when properly equipped,
matching the towing capability of its predecessor, while producing up to 20% better fuel economy.2
This can mean less money for the pump and more for your pocket. Trailer sway control (TSC),
included with the Class II Trailer Tow Prep Package,1 monitors the motions of the vehicle and detects
trailer sway. If needed, TSC reduces engine speed and selectively applies the brakes to help you

If it senses you’re taking a curve too quickly, Curve Control can help slow the vehicle by as much
as 10 mph in approximately one second.1 It’s the latest enhancement to our AdvanceTrac® with
RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) – standard on every new Escape. Curve Control is effective on dry
or wet pavement and is expected to be particularly useful on highway ramps. Escape also comes
