The Social Challenge of 1.5°C Webinar: Melissa Leach and Susanne Mosertewksjj
Karen O'Brien, Susanne Moser, Ioan Fazey and others from Future Earth's Transformations Knowledge-Action Network discuss mobilising research around the social challenge of a 1.5°C target for climate action.
This document celebrates a birthday and requests not to include any boys' names in a presentation. It also expresses frustration that despite wearing a sexy dress to a party, no one provided any compliments. Additionally, it celebrates being in a picture with someone named Reechal.
This document proposes that the university divest from fossil fuel companies in order to avoid profiting from climate change and to get ahead of an impending market crash as carbon release is limited. It argues that climate change is human-caused and occurring rapidly, posing threats to global water and food availability that could lead to widespread death and conflict. While acceptable climate change is limited to a temperature increase of 2 degrees Celsius, we have already warmed 0.8 degrees and known fossil fuel reserves far exceed the amount of carbon that can be released to stay below the 2 degree threshold. Therefore, divesting from the top 200 carbon reserve holding companies is recommended to ensure no financial support for breaking the climate.
This document lists 161 potential project titles for PC-based projects. The projects cover a wide range of topics including robotics, biomedical devices, instrumentation, power systems, electronics, and more. Many involve interfacing a PC to other devices using technologies like serial communication, wireless transmission, and fiber optic cables. The document also provides contact information for an organization called Expert Systems and Solutions that may provide assistance or tutoring on the listed projects.
The document provides contact information for a research organization called Expert Systems and Solutions located in Paiyanoor, Chennai, India. It calls for final year students and Ph.D students in electrical engineering fields to submit research projects. Students will be able to assemble hardware in the organization's research labs and receive guidance from experts. Areas of research mentioned include digital signal processing, fundamentals of DSP, applications of DSP, and key DSP operations such as convolution and filtering.

The document discusses the art of sculpting Ganesh idols in India. It notes that idol makers begin practicing at a young age, getting over 8 years of experience working with clay, black mud, and plaster of Paris to sculpt idols by hand that can vary in size and detailed decorations. During the off season after Ganesh festivals, the idol makers mass produce Ganesh idols to meet demand and also make other religious idols, take on new projects, and employ others to help. The sculptors in the Pen region of India can earn between Rs. 50,000 to 5 lacs annually from sculpting over 350 idols each.
